The Prime Minister's Darling novel Chapter 758

Chapter 758: Boss Pure Sky (Second Update)

Lord Hou said it and he did it, getting started on his plan immediately.

Gu Jiao returned to the Medical Hall after bidding Lord Hou farewell, oblivious to the murky waters she and Gu Yan had stirred. She switched her outfit and removed her mask, heading to Guozijian to fetch little Monk.

Knowing that Gu Jiao would pick him up after school, Little Monk was in high spirits, behaving much better in class and for once, not having a fall-out with his teacher, Master Sun.

For Master Sun, it was the most relaxing day of the year, making him feel like his receding hairline wasn’t as bad.

"Let’s go to my place!" Xu Zhuzhu, coming out of class, said to Little Monk.

Little Monk shook his head in a frosty manner, "Not today, I’m heading home with Jiaojiao!"

Xu Zhuzhu thought for a moment, "Alright then, how about tomorrow?"

Little Monk continued shaking his head, "Nope, not tomorrow either. I’m heading home with Jiaojiao again!"

Just thinking about how Jiaojiao would pick him up every day while his rotten brother-in-law was gone made him particularly happy!

Little Monk walked away with his head held high, revelling in his confidence.

Only leaving poor Xu Zhuzhu, standing alone grumbling- brothers, they are indeed just spare wheels!

Exiting Guozijian, Little Monk met Gu Jiao. They held hands and started walking home.

Tilting his head cutely, Little Monk said, "Jiaojiao, I missed you a lot. You look even more beautiful than you did yesterday!"

Gu Jiao curved her lips into a smile, "Really?"

Little Monk nodded with all his might, "Yes, yes! Monks do not tell lies!"

So, are you still a monk?

Gu Jiao looked at the now-grown buzzcut of someone, thinking to herself, there shouldn’t be any hiccups this time, right? It should grow out into a mass of black, thick hair, perfect for a cute little topknot, right?

Little Monk hopped and skipped his way back to Bishui Alley, in high spirits.

While Gu Jiao went to get water and chop firewood, Little Monk returned to his room to do homework. With Xiao Liulang absent, his homework was checked by the old priest.

The old priest is still not off his shift.

Little Monk finished his homework assigned by Master Sun quite swiftly. He walked to where Gu Jiao was chopping wood, a cunning look in his eyes as he said, "Jiaojiao, I’m going to Zhao Xiaobao’s place to play."

Zhao Xiaobao was old man Zhao’s grandson, a year younger than Little Monk and one of his closest playmates in terms of age group.

Gu Jiao had no objections, "Okay, I’ll call you when dinner is ready."

The little fellow’s eyes rolled again, "Then... Can I bring some things with me?"

"Sure." Gu Jiao agreed easily mainly because she didn’t notice his sneaky expression while she chopped wood.

Little Monk went back to his room—the East room. Yes, although his brother-in-law also lived in the East room, Little Monk firmly claimed the room as his own.

Having always taken in his potentially unemployed brother-in-law, he considers himself such a darling!

Half of Little Monk’s odds and ends remained in the house, while the other half was moved to the backyard of the Medical Hall.

He opened his cabinet, pulling out his little box. He emptied the contents of his school bag and selected what he thought were interesting items to fill his bag with them.

"Jiaojiao, I’m off now!"

Bagpack slung over his shoulder, Little Monk exited the yard with a brisk trot.

By the time Gu Jiao turned to look, the little tyke was already gone.

She laughed softly.

Such a rascal.

Little Monk was quite a disciplined child who didn’t wander off, so Gu Jiao didn’t expect that instead of going next door, he was heading to a pawnshop on Xuanwu Avenue with his trinkets.

The owner of the pawnshop, seeing a child walking in, assumed he was just there to mess around. He hurriedly waved him away, "Go play somewhere else!"

"I’m not here to play! I’m here to pawn!" retorted Little Monk. frёeωebɳovel.com

This wasn’t his first visit, he had scoped out the place with Xu Zhuzhu and Brother Chu Yu before and knew the local terminology.

The pawnbroker couldn’t help but laugh when he heard Little Monk. Children talking like adults was simply hilarious and so he didn’t rush to kick him out, instead he asked, "What are you here to pawn?"

"Um... these! See if there’s anything you like! Whatever you like, I’ll pawn that!" Unable to reach the counter, even on his tiptoes, Little Monk urged the pawnbroker, "Come out and see for yourself!"

Little Monk’s persistence amusingly drove the pawnbroker to come out, "Alright, let’s see what good stuff you’ve got."

He didn’t at all expect the child to truly pawn anything, he thought Little Monk was probably playing a game.

Little Monk handed over his bag.

The pawnbroker laughed out loud as he laid out Little Monk’s items onto the counter. He fed his curiosity, revealing items ranging from ancient pieces from previous dynasties, legendary calligraphy works of contemporary scholars, to even rare items from the six countries.

Look at what the child has? Deeds to buildings in Liang country, glowing cups from Chen country... and it gets better - jade seals and tiger symbol.

The pawnbroker was holding his stomach, laughing uncontrollably.

Were children’s toys nowadays this versatile? Surprisingly, they looked somewhat realistic.

The broker didn’t think for a moment that these items were real.

He packed everything back into the bag, handed Little Monk a piece of malt candy with a chuckle for his cuteness, "So many lovely things, impressive! Now run along home."
