Evelyn took the soup and drank it all in one go. The bitter taste assaulted her nonstop. Even so, she was used to consuming bottles of medication at home. As such, she was able to maintain a poker face.
However, her appetite was bad during this time. It was easy to feel disgusted when her taste buds were stimulated.
"Lucas, get her some candy to cleanse her palate," ordered Maria.
Only then did Lucas look over. He didn't object this time. However, he didn't bring the candy over. Instead, he instructed Margaret to do so.
"There's a fridge in the kitchen with some of Evelyn's sour gummies. Bring a tin of it over."
Margaret immediately found the item and placed it on the table.
Evelyn's gaze landed on the sour gummies. She liked sweet and sour foods, and usually didn't consume much junk food. However, she would occasionally buy some sour gummies and keep them in the small fridge in the kitchen.
She didn't expect Lucas to know, but that was no longer important.
She hesitated for a moment, yet she still walked over and sat down.
Seeing the atmosphere, Maria finally showed a relieved smile. At least there was no tension. Feelings could always be nurtured slowly.
Evelyn took a cab over yesterday, causing her to use Lucas' car again.
The driver was driving today.
Sitting in the back seat, Evelyn opened the materials Graham sent her two days ago. She made annotations as she read them, as she had no intention of engaging in conversation with Lucas beside her.
The way they interacted with each other back then was similar to how they were now. The only difference was that she no longer threw herself at someone who gave her the cold shoulder. This made her seem quiet.
Lucas clearly had no desire to talk to her either. However, he happened to glance at one of the paragraphs on Evelyn's screen.
"You understand this kind of academic material?"
