The Queen Returns—And She's Unforgiving novel Chapter 143

Leonard also fully supported Evelyn's decision.

An unhappy marriage brought nothing but self-destruction. There were zero benefits.

Deborah side-eyed him. "Do you think I'm unaware that youngsters always say the best way to get over a relationship is to meet someone new? If he seems like a good match and a decent person, then why not give it a try?"

Evelyn found it a little amusing. "Granny, you have a rather modern mindset."

She had originally thought Deborah would be quite worried about her. But now it seemed that Maria's experience studying abroad when she was young had left her with an open mind. This, in turn, left Evelyn more at ease.

The bonfire party was at 10:00 pm. It was only 8:00 pm after dinner. As such, Evelyn asked, "How about a soak in the hot springs? Let's warm up before we go have fun."

Deborah and Leonard had no objections.

The hotel's hot spring was divided into men's and women's baths. There was also an outdoor scenic spring.

Deborah and Leonard preferred peace and quiet, so they went to the indoor area. Evelyn, who liked a good view, went alone to the outdoor spring.

She walked in, wrapped in a towel.

Suddenly, her phone buzzed. She stopped walking and glanced at it.

It was a message from Lucas. "Happy Easter."

She could even imagine his cool, indifferent tone. It was like he was fulfilling a social obligation with such a concise message.

Evelyn stared at those two words silently. She knew it wasn't a mass text.

She still had him blocked on WhatsApp, and Lucas never seemed to care. But even so, he had still gone through the motions to send her a proper greeting out of courtesy.

Evelyn quietly put her phone away. She had no intention of replying.

They were divorced. She couldn't be bothered.

"Evie!" A cheerful girl's voice rang out behind her, pulling Evelyn out of her thoughts.

Fiona was already running over. Trailing behind her in a bathrobe was Jason.

"Jason said he ran into you. I didn't expect it to be true. Doesn't that mean we can celebrate Easter together?" Fiona chattered, her cheeks red from the hot spring.
