It was the day the group decided to start their own guild, and Ollie was trying to fit himself in the crowd to see the posted requirements.
The mop suddenly wondered why they made it sound so complicated when it seemed like you only needed a Guild name, a licensed student mercenary, a base in the military, and the fee.
That sounded doable. Thought the only licensed first-year mechanic who drew the attention of the other students in the cafeteria.
When they got to the specifics, Ollie was surprised to see his good brother trembling in mortification.
"Luca, what’s wrong?!" Asked the mop, who immediately tried checking if his brother was injured somewhere.
But Luca’s injury was internal.
A gaping hole!
"Host! It seems like there is extortion going on in this Academy. Should it be reported?" Asked D-29, who noted the prices of land.
That was the killer.
TEN.
BILLION.
That was the starting price.
Which gets you a long-term lease for a dingy cabin and a cleared plot of land.
There were other more insane lots that had buildings and facilities that had even more zeroes in the price tag!
And Luca wanted to quit the moment he saw the cheapest option.
Maybe it was okay just to enter one of the established guilds because who would be insane enough to start their own?!
But apparently, there were several, such as his, uhm, husband.
Xavier didn’t blink when he saw the prices. They were the expected land prices for areas within the military base’s scope.
Given their proximity to the headquarters, the lots were prime real estate and were likely considered small strongholds.
In fact, he wouldn’t have to pay for anything when he owned a large chunk of it and would, in the end, be paying himself. But who told him to present himself as a typical noble who had to follow the rules?
But just as expected, he figured the little money grubber would have such violent reactions!
It was never a question of the account balance because the penny pincher would pout in protest even if their bank balance exceeded the item price by how many folds.
Cute.
Xavier was going to buy it for everyone, as he was the one with the intention of starting a new guild.
And a huge part of it would return to him anyway, as he was technically one of the landlords.
But Luca couldn’t do it.
Especially not when he saw it coming out of that account, which he dutifully guarded every night.
Xavier’s arm was suddenly pulled, and determined eyes looked at him.
"You—you can’t do that! It’s too much!" He really just wanted to join another guild, but Luca knew that Xavier needed an independent one.
"There are more affordable ones—also this one, can’t it be this one?" Luca pointed to the 10 billion lot that had never been rented before and said, it’s not like we’ll actually use it, right?
Actually, they would.
But in Luca’s mind, it was better to squeeze in together than fork out that much money!
Huh? Xavier didn’t expect him to insist on it, even after learning that they’d barely even pay, only for Luca to go on his tippytoes to whisper something in Xavier’s ear.
