When Noah noticed Theo’s hesitance, he had to nod over to him to encourage his friend.
The shack really looked sketchy but if this was how the people of DG rolled, then, really, they were likely Theo’s last hope.
Especially when the people before them didn’t flinch when his friend mentioned Kestrel Point, a known planet in the Contaminated Zone.
If anything, Noah was surprised to see Luca’s eyes widening.
Fear?
No.
That couldn’t be fear?
Excitement?
Was he a thrill seeker?
But no. He was a money grubber.
And the little money grubber’s hand clutched at Xavier as he was so excited he felt like flying off the handle.
However, he returned to land the moment he heard about the mission objectives after Theo prefaced the mission’s difficulty.
They were supposed to look for family members who went missing to find some Jade Vine for their ailing grandmother.
Luca, who had just gotten his family back, was suddenly distraught. Xavier figured that this little guy would likely take the mission even without the corruption bonus.
So he asked Luca, "Do you want to take it?"
It wasn’t accusatory, nor was it placating. Xavier was really giving him the choice.
And Luca nodded.
He had no desire to turn anything down, and even if the client went in to ask them to look for a missing cat, he was likely going to agree.
Obviously, Theo and Noah watched this interaction and their hearts were gripped with suspense until Luca nodded, it’s just that Theo hasn’t shown the compensation he could offer.
"Uhm... I’m sorry I forgot to mention this earlier, but I’d like to be honest. There’s only this for compensation." He showed his terminal with notices for 50,000 credits and over 1 million in Star Coins.
"This is all that we have right now, and I know that Kestrel Point has nearly been run over with corruption, but..." Theo trailed off, scared of looking at the faces of the people from DG.
Because the measly reward turned off most of the other guilds.
But had he looked up, he probably would’ve seen the guild leader’s glinting eyes and almost glowing face.
Xavier could only swear under his breath.
Luca heard corruption and looked like he was in love.
Did he have to come back bathing in it?
But in the first place, why did he feel threatened?
"We’re going to take it," Luca said as he blinded all of their guild members into agreeing.
Who could even turn him down at this point?
Certainly not the Imperial Crown Prince who felt the sudden need to go to the battlefield.
What was he even thinking? freēwēbnovel.com
Oh.
Yeah. He wouldn’t be the best person to deal with those as he’s only ever been to Planet Nova and the Capital.
