555.Chapter 555
That mark slowly began to heal the wounds they had been carrying.
Of course, the people didn’t know that it was Eliza’s spiritual energy, quietly released from her pocket farm, that had caused the change.
They only felt that something within them had shifted, something had changed.”
“Mom, I feel like my body isn’t as stiff anymore.”
“I feel the same. The charcoal from the county office is really warming me up.”
“My frostbite doesn’t hurt anymore.”
“I’m not coughing anymore. My throat doesn’t hurt.”
“It seems like the medicine they gave us really worked. With Prince Regent and the Holy Lady here, those corrupt officials wouldn’t dare fool us.”
“Prince Regent and the Holy Lady are truly wonderful.”
“Yes, yes.”
“Can we go for oatmeal tomorrow? Although the medicine soup was bitter, I feel warm after drinking it. I want more.”
“Don’t worry, kids. Prince Regent said we can go to the county office tomorrow.”
“That’s great.”
Tonight, the people of Saint Snow City didn’t have to force themselves to sleep, cold and hungry.
And that night, there were no deaths from hunger or freezing in Saint Snow City–zero.
However, other areas of Woteria still had many people suffering from the disaster caused by the heavy snow. They had managed to stabilize the situation in Saint Snow City, but the disaster elsewhere was still ongoing.
Eliza and Nolan couldn’t stay in Saint Snow City much longer.
By the time the second day broke, they had already set out.
Before they left, Nolan had made sure there were enough people and supplies.
The distribution of bread and medicine would continue, and enough charcoal and firewood were left for the people.
This would keep the citizens of Saint Snow City safe for the next month.
And a month was enough for them to do many things–whether they had to wait for further aid or rely on themselves, it would be enough.
In the wind and snow that showed no signs of stopping that morning, Eliza and Nolan, leading the group, soon left Saint Snow City.
They left so early that when some people arrived at the county office after daylight, they found nothing but emptiness. Outside the county office, in a carriage, a disgruntled voice asked, “Don’t you even know where Prince Regent has gone?” The Black Flag soldiers guarding the county office coldly responded, “Do you think you can investigate Prince Regent’s whereabouts?”
“Outsiders, leave at once. Do not disturb the people here, or we will not hesitate to act.”
The woman in the carriage immediately pulled open the curtains and protested, “What do you mean by that? Do you know who my young lady is, and you dare speak to us like this?”
But the Black Flag Army remained indifferent, their tone frigid and unyielding, “Prince Regent has ordered that anyone who dares to provoke or disturb the relief effort, no matter their status, will be killed without mercy.”
