“Good.” With a hearty laugh, Theodore departed, comforted by the thought that his old friend’s legacy was in capable hands.

Soon after, several ministers, including Percival, approached Eliza outside the hall. They greeted her warmly and exchanged a few cordial words.

This wasn’t just because of her status as the Holy Lady. From this day forward, she was no longer the disowned daughter of the Stonor family; she was the head of the Padilla family.

Eliza turned her head and saw Dale walking out of the hall toward her, his face drawn and weary. He bowed respectfully and said, “Your Grace, congratulations on achieving your goal. I regret not speaking up for you earlier. I have failed you.”

He was referring to his promise to support her in changing her last name.

Eliza replied coolly, “It’s fine. I’ve received the items you sent to Saint Grace Nunnery. Let’s consider it even.”

Though Dale hadn’t stood by her, he hadn’t worked against her either. In the past, whether it was Adeline’s provocations or Caleb’s harassment, he had at least tried to remedy things afterward. Because of that, Eliza felt neither gratitude nor resentment toward him, only indifference.

“I’m glad to hear that. With those in hand, I trust it’ll be easier for you to rebuild the Padilla family. If you ever need he successfully unlocked! The Marquis’s estate…” Dale trailed off, as if a thought had hit him.
