The World of Beasts: She's Got Their Hearts novel Chapter 79

"Are you really going to kill your own brother?" Ophir seemed to sense Scott's intent. "Then again, your mother died because of him, didn't she?"

"Shut up!" Scott's hand trembled as the memory surged in his mind. Without hesitation, he fired a shot.

Regardless, Ophir dodged the sudden attack.

"Be careful, Analise. Ophir is probably trying to switch hosts. People are most vulnerable to possession when emotionally unstable," Echo warned.

It could protect Analise from Ophir's influence, but not the others.

"Scott, don't let it manipulate your emotions. This isn't Sean's fault, and it's not yours either," Analise reminded him.

She then turned to Gideon, asking, "Can your pocket drive restrain him?"

"No guarantees." He, too, noticed Sean's strange behavior.

If it were an ordinary therian—even SSS-grade—he'd have full confidence. But there seemed to be more to Sean than met the eye.

"A nobody like you thinks you can ruin my plans? You really think I can't deal with you?"

Controlling Sean's body, Ophir pressed a button on the starship's console.

In the next moment, Sawyer and the female who bore an uncanny resemblance to Scott's late mother appeared before them.

The two of them were placed inside a cryotank and seemed to be in cryosleep.

Through Ophir's manipulation, the two were released from the cryotank.

"Analise…" Sean's face suddenly twitched—his consciousness briefly resurfaced. "Don't worry about me. Just destroy it."

"Scotty… Help me…"

"Shut up! All of you, shut up!"

Sean's expressions and voice kept shifting as the two souls wrestled control from each other.

Scott's grip tightened. With no hesitation, he fired again.

Somehow, he missed.

"Although this is a bizarre sight, now's not the time to panic." Calmer than everyone around him, Gideon threw his pocket drive forward.
