The assistant hesitated, picking up on the shift in Milton’s mood. “Mr. Shaw… Did Ms. Gordon find out what you did?

“Otherwise, with her physical condition, there’s no way she would’ve left like this!

“If that’s the case, then I’m afraid…

Before he could finish, Milton cut him off sharply.

“Find her. I don’t care where she is–I want her brought back to me.

“As long as I don’t agree to it, this divorce means nothing.”

The assistant, pale with fear, quickly turned and left the villa.

Meanwhile, Camryn sat on the couch with Shannon in her arms, speaking softly, “Milton… is Lauren gone?

“She’s being ridiculous. I mean, sure, couples fight, but there’s a limit. She’s going too far.”

Milton didn’t respond. He had no interest in hearing another word from her.

Just then, a notification popped up on his phone–an email from me.

He opened it in a rush. Inside was a recording.

As soon as he hit play, Camryn’s voice came blaring out, cruel and

Venomous.

Then came the sound of me being shoved to the ground.

In the recording, Camryn could be heard relentlessly slandering me. Then, shockingly, she revealed the truth about how Milton was responsible for our child’s death and the kidney transplant.

Milton stood frozen. It hit him like a train. The truth–all of it–laid bare. He turned slowly to glare at Camryn, eyes cold and sharp.

Camryn’s face went ghost white as she watched the color drain from his face, his expression growing darker by the second.

At this point, no amount of lies could save her. So she tried a different tactic–playing on his emotions.

“Milton, that’s not how it happened,” she said quickly.

“Lauren came at me first! She provoked me!”

Milton’s voice shook with fury.

“Even now, you’re still trying to twist things and smear Lauren?

“Camryn, you’re the one who drove her away!”

Desperate, Camryn grabbed his hand, but Milton jerked away violently.

Her eyes turned red with panic as she stared at him.

“Milton, please… That’s not true…

But Milton was done. His patience had run dry.

“From now on, Shannon will stay with the Shaw family. As for you, get out of my house.”

Chapter 6

Camryn finally broke.

She collapsed to the floor and scrambled toward him, her voice shaking.

“Milton! You know I can’t live without Shannon!”
