The secretary gave a knock on the door and, upon receiving permission, ushered Eric and his manager inside. 

Upon entering the office, Eric was left dumbstruck by the familiar figure seated in the CEO’s chair. 

He had seen Nathaniel before and studied the latter. 

However, because Nathaniel had a twin brother, Nicholas, who had no issues with his eyes, he naturally assumed that the person in front of him was Nicholas, 

“Are you the CEO of Orion Corporation, Nicholas?” Eric asked directly. 

If he is Nicholas, then everything will make sense. 

After all, Nicholas was managing Orion Corporation, and it was reasonable that he established Imminence Corporation privately. 

Nathaniel’s thin lips parted slightly, his eyes darkening. 

“Ian, Cecilia’s ex–husband, Nathaniel. We’ve met before.” he stated, each word articulated clearly. 

Astonished once again, Eric asked, “Don’t you have a problem with your eyes?” 

“I’ve recovered.” 

The words lightly echoed in Eric’s ears. 

Eric had never imagined that his superior would turn out to be Cecilia’s ex–husband. 

The confidence he harbored the day before vanished in an instant. 

“You’re the founder of Imminence Corporation?” Despite his disbelief, Eric continued to press on with his 

questions. 

“Right, I have always been the CEO before you joined the company,” Nathaniel stated, addressing the confusion he saw in Eric’s eyes. 

Eric’s emotions were particularly complicated, for he had actually ended up working for his romantie rival. 

No wonder the company didn’t use or nurture me properly for profit. All it wanted to do was ship me off to Alendor! 

“Heh, you were just settling personal scores under the guise of business, weren’t you? Aren’t you afraid that Cecilia would find out?” Eric commented about Nathaniel’s tactics in a disdainful tone. 

The remark caused Nathaniel’s lips to curl up even more, his expression filled with mockery. “So, what you’re implying is that you plan to tattle on me to Cecilia?” 

Eric suddenly shocked. 

Nathaniel continued, “What’s the matter, do you need a woman to stand up for you, over an affair between men?

Before Eric could finish his sentence, Nathaniel interjected, “What do you mean then? Celebrities are indeed actors, but unfortunately, your acting skills are lacking. If you’re not afraid of losing face, you tell Cecilia how I made you sign the contract, how I sent you to Alendor, and how I targeted you. By the way, have you ever heard that people tend to admire the strong? Since you’re so weak that you need my ex–wife to protect you, I doubt she would ever fancy a man like you!”

He was instantly filled with anger. 

He wasn’t some young pretty boy who relied on wealthy women. Everything he had today was the result of his own hard work and determination, all built through time. 

“Nathaniel, what nonsense are you spouting? I don’t need Cecilia’s protection. If I could, I would take your place and protect Cecilia properly!” 

As soon as these words were spoken, the atmosphere in the office grew tense.
