A Mate For The Last Lycan novel Chapter 50

Chapter 50: THE FIRST KILL

Dacre was not happy to hear that. "Of course, I can. I am the King." He felt like he was being challenged and now he saw Khaos differently, especially with the way he replied to him.

The taste of victory over the coup that tried to kill him was rather addictive. He felt invincible, as if death couldn't touch him. The thrill Dacre felt as he watched those who had tried to betray him fall to their knees, their expressions crestfallen upon realizing their attempt had failed, was unlike anything he had ever experienced before.

The satisfaction he got from that was even greater than that of having mind blowing sex.

Khaos didn't hold back with his reply either. "I want to see you try."

Hearing that, Dacre felt anger boil in his veins. He stood up. His jaw hardened. "Is that a threat?"

The question was left unanswered as Khaos walked out of the room and left the King alone. Coldness fell in the throne room, as he seethed.

Outside, Caiden was waiting for Khaos. He heard the conversation inside and looked at his alpha with worry.

"I don't think it's right for you to provoke him now. You know he will retaliate, right?" Caiden looked around him to make sure no one was around to listen in on this conversation.

"Then, we only need to hasten our plan."

Caiden thought about it for a moment and then shrugged his shoulders. "You are right. Everything is ready now." He then remembered something crucial, cursing himself because he almost forgot this piece of information. "River Creek pack," he said to get Khaos' attention.

Both of them stopped in the middle of the hallway, where there was no guard or warrior around them.

"Alpha Roland's third son took over the pack and fortified themselves against the royal warriors, but there was a small movement from them. I believe Rhet, the third son, has led some of the warriors for the rescue of his little sister. I heard the two of them are close."

Khaos thought about it for a moment and then gave his gamma a specific instruction that left him dumbstruck.

"Are you sure?!" Caiden widened his eyes in disbelief. "Are you going to let it happen?"

"Yes."

And with that, Khaos continued to walk away, leaving Caiden stunned speechless. The alpha was heading toward the dungeon, visiting a certain woman.

This visit had been long overdue.

"I don't think this is a good idea," one of the guards groaned, but he still did what his partner told him to do. He fiddled with the lock of Zuri's cell. At this point, Zuri had stopped eating and just stared blankly at the ceiling, talking to herself.

Sometimes, she would talk in a whispery tone, but there would also be times when she screamed and threw everything that she could get her hands on, but most of the time, she would be sleeping.
