The first thing Khaos saw upon reaching this dirty cell was a bloody scene: the black beast had unleashed hell upon two dead bodies of the guards.
He knew who the black beast was and sensing his arrival, the beast stopped tearing the guards' flesh apart. There was nothing left of them right now. Their limbs had been discarded, their flesh had been mangled, no one could recognize them anymore.
"Zuri."
The name rolled off his lips calmly and this attracted the beast's attention. The beast's black eyes stared at Khaos, baring her teeth, a deep growl rumbled in its chest.
"Come here," Khaos said, there was no trace of fear, his expression didn't even change, as if the fact that Zuri had killed the two guards brutally, something that she shouldn't have been capable of, didn't bother him at all. "Come here." He extended his hand to call her to him.
For a moment, the beast stared at his extended hand, but in the end, she moved slowly toward the alpha and when Khaos' hand touched her head, she let out a satisfying growl, closing her eyes to savor his touch.
"Shift."
Zuri did what she was told and then shifted back into her human form. She sat on the dirty floor, her hair a mess and blood splattered on her already dirty white dress. One couldn't even tell that the dress' original color had been white.
"They wanted to touch me, so I killed them," Zuri explained. She watched as Khaos knelt down and picked her up.
"Good job." He patted her head and her body visibly relaxed immediately. He had expected that was what happened, but what surprised him was the fact that Zuri managed to take down two guards on her own.
There were only two explanations as to how she could do that; first, she had received training to fight, or her killing instinct was simply too strong. Khaos inclined toward the second explanation.
Some shifters were born with a natural killing instinct, making them dangerous in a fight even without training. If those shifters received training, they would become truly lethal.
He knew Zuri had this exceptional killing instinct, he had seen it in her eyes. He realized that because he was also born with the same 'gift'.
Currently, the dangerous beast wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed his cheek. She looked very docile for someone who had just killed two grown shifters with brutal fighting skills. The scene that she left behind would leave even a tough warrior sick to their stomach.
"I didn't allow them to touch me," Zuri said sleepily, she rested her head on his shoulder and closed her eyes.
"You have done a good job."
"I killed them very quickly. They begged for mercy, but I didn't show them any."
Zuri couldn't help it, she wanted to hear him praise herself more. She thirsted for that recognition. Someone was proud of her, telling her that she had done a good job, instead of telling her that she had gone crazy.
