Janet's eyes widened. Ever since Sierra married Theo, it seemed like she had grown bolder. Sierra actually dared to imply that Benson was immature in her face!
Just as she was about to step forward and put Sierra in her place like she used to, Liam stopped her calmly. With a gentle smile, he spoke up. "As long as you and Theo get along, that's all that matters. Live a good life together. If he ever gives you trouble, I'll have a word with him."
Sierra's brows furrowed slightly. Her gaze flickered toward him briefly before she replied politely, "Thank you."
She got up to head upstairs, but before she could leave, Benson took two quick steps forward. "Cee, how have you been?"
Now that she was blocked from leaving, Sierra's patience wore thin. Meeting Benson's gaze, which was filled with deep emotion, she felt extremely speechless.
What was that supposed to mean?
Was he also oblivious to Sophie's sharp glare behind her back?
Looking at her married ex-boyfriend, who only ever caused her trouble, she felt nothing for their past. There was no nostalgia or lingering affection, only annoyance.
Still, since they were under the same roof, she didn't want to make a scene. Keeping her expression neutral, she simply replied, "I'm doing very well. From now on, you should call me Aunt Sierra."
Benson looked hurt. His eyes were filled with grievance, as if blaming her for being so heartless.
Sensing the expression in his eyes, she took a deep breath and explained coolly, "I have to attend to some matters. I'll be heading to my room now."
Ignoring his reluctant, hesitant attempts to stop her, she quickly went upstairs and shut herself in her bedroom.
…
That evening, Theo returned from work. Seeing Benson and the others sitting in the living room, his gaze darkened. Without a word, he handed his coat to the housekeeper and went straight upstairs.
"Edward, look at Theo. He's getting ruder by the day—he didn't even greet anyone when he came in." Janet seized the chance to stir trouble in front of Edward.
