The few girls looked at each other and nodded, not understanding what was going on. One of them even told him the name of the movie with a look of bewilderment on her face.
“Okay.” Charles returned to the queue.
After the man in front of him was done buying tickets, Charles said to the ticket booth employee, “How many tickets are left for ‘The Flying Man’? I want them all.”
“Wh-What?” the employee stuttered.
Charles repeated his request amidst the sound of discussion from the people behind him. “I’m buying the entire show for everyone watching the film today.”
He turned back and his gaze fell on the few girls there. “Except for these few girls who were badmouthing my girlfriend, everyone else is allowed to see the film.”
The few girls were stunned at his words. All they could do was stare while all those queuing up behind them walked into the theatre happily.
“Mr. Ha… Mr. Harris, you can’t do this!” One of the girls was now red in the face.
Charles did not argue with her. All he did was look at the employee. “Do you have any rules about not allowing someone to buy out a theatre?”
The employee was still in shock as he replied absent-mindedly, “No.”
“In that case, do you have any rules about not allowing someone to pay for another’s ticket?” Charles asked again.
The employee shook his head.
“So what I’m doing isn’t against the rules.” Charles smirked at the girls who were in a frenzy of frustration while pulling Sophia into the theatre.
The few girls wanted to enter after they left, but the employee in charge of checking tickets stopped them. “I’m sorry, but the gentleman just said that you’re not welcome.”
The girls tried to talk his ears off, but the employee could only reply with an apology. They finally left when there was nothing else they could do.
‘The Flying Man’ had not started playing. The screen was showing a few movie trailers. Under the dim yellow lights, the red theatre seats had long been filled to the brim with people.
“You didn’t have to do that,” said Sophia.
The news had been released. They could stop one or two people from saying something, but they were not able to stop everyone.
Charles put on his 3D glass, covering the look in his eyes. “It’s necessary for me. I’m a petty man.”
Sophia pursed her lips and lowered her head without saying anything. Her mind was everywhere. Leah had decided to charge her, and the summons from the court would be sent to her soon. What would she do then?
The brake on the sports car she drove two years ago was dysfunctional. This could be easily investigated by the police. By right, that car accident should have been treated as an accident at most.
However, they were insistent that she had intent for murder, even going as far as to say that Leah had a recording in her hands… Sophia did not know what sort of recording Leah had and was even more unsure of how she got her hands on a recording that could incriminate Sophia.
“Are you worried about Leah’s charge against you?” Charles turned toward her and asked.
Sophia felt his breath on her neck when he spoke. She adjusted her body awkwardly, not saying a word.
It was a feeling of being seen through by someone. Sophia felt as if she was standing naked right in front of him… It was really uncomfortable!
“I’ve taken care of this matter.” Charles reached out his hand and gently touched the scar at the end of her eyebrow, but he pulled back his hand before she could shun it.
Sophia’s body stiffened at his words. It felt like a lightning bolt had struck her brain, causing it to go blank.
It was difficult to describe what she was feeling. It was like a poisonous tumor that had been growing in her body was suddenly dug out and her entire body was now relaxed. It felt like she was in a dream-like hallucination.
