Leah watched the door open and close with a gloomy look on her face.
Why was Charles never able to see her?
Although, all will be well after a few days. Sophia would be sentenced to at least a few decades of prison time for attempted murder. This sentencing was unavoidable no matter how good a lawyer she had.
Leah sat in her wheelchair, facing the sunrise as she stretched her body. The weather today was really great!

Sophia prepared to head downstairs and make herself some congee. She did not really know how to cook anything else but congee. When she got downstairs, there was an aroma of delicious food.
Charles seemed to have heard her footsteps from the kitchen. “Go wait in the dining room. The food will be ready soon.”
Sophia frowned slightly as she went into the kitchen.
Charles had on an apron. It was tied loosely behind his waist, accentuating his slender waist. He had a good-looking physique, especially when watching him from behind. The finer points of his body were much more refined…
Broad shoulders, slender legs, perky butt.
Very sexy.
Sophia turned her gaze away and walked to his side. She noticed him trying to fry an egg in the pan with his bandaged hand. “Let me do it.”
“Do you even know how to?” Charles lowered his head to look at her with a raised eyebrow.
Sophia pursed her lips and retracted her hand which had reached toward the pan.
“Just wait in the dining room. It’ll be ready soon,” Charles said to her again as he turned his attention to frying the egg.
Sophia did not move.
When he was done with cooking, she picked up two bowls of congee and walked toward the dining room.
Charles picked up the two fried eggs and a plate of side dish to follow behind her. A slight smile appeared, but he quickly wiped it off his face.
They had just sat down when the doorbell rang before they even started eating.
Sophia looked at the bandages wrapped around Charles’ hand, arm, and face. She stood up. “I’ll get the door.”
“It’s fine. Just sit down and eat.” Charles took out his phone and sent out a message. After that, he picked up his chopsticks and started eating.
Soon, the sound of the door opening could be heard. Next, it was a flurry of footsteps.
“Sophia? Sophia! Where are you?” Clara’s excited voice could be heard coming from the living room.
However, her voice sounded like it was getting further and further away.
Sophia was about to say she was at the dining room when Zachary’s teasing voice could be heard, “Hey, little lady, you’re running in the wrong direction. Where do you even think you’re going? Charles and Sophia are in the dining room.”
“Why didn’t you say so earlier, Zachary…” Clara pulled her voice at the end of the sentence in protest. Her voice ended just as they arrived at the dining room entrance.
Her eyes brightened at the sight of Sophia as she made a run toward Sophia, but she stopped halfway there.
Clara scrunched up her nose and took a few deep breaths with an intoxicated look on her face. “Wow, what are you eating? It smells so good! Sophia, how is it that you can look so pretty, have a great personality, and be a wonderful cook at the same time? How can the world have such a perfect sweetie pie like you and allow me to be lucky enough to meet you?”
Zachary’s face fell. “Am I not perfect?”
Clara glared at him unhappily. “How can you be perfect when you’re always acting so sickeningly lovey-dovey?”
Clara’s expression turned adorably shy when she turned toward Sophia. “Sophia, Can I… Can I have a bowl?”
The food smelled so good!
Zachary pushed his glasses up his nose and said coolly, “Why do I seem to remember you just having six pieces of xiao long bao and a huge glass of soybean milk?”
