Atticus's Odyssey: Reincarnated Into A Playground novel Chapter 1059

They all just stared at Atticus, quietly.

Despite their strength, despite their ranks, standing near him felt like having a blade held to their throat. Like a quiet, invisible threat.

As if their lives were already in his hands.

Then his voice sounded, rattling them to their bones.

"We’ll discuss this later. We should return to the human domain. I’m sure you’re all aware of what’s coming."

The expressions of the paragons shifted instantly before turning into dread.

They exchanged silent nods, serious now, and in a single synchronized flash, they returned to the aircraft they had arrived in.

But before they left, the other human paragons who had come began gathering their descendants. They also gathered for those who had stayed behind at the human domain.

Some of the recruits hadn’t made it back… and that thought sent a chill through the paragons.

Unfortunately, the human airship couldn’t carry the millions of survivors still left behind. They resolved to return for them later, only after Zenon gave his word that they would be protected in the meantime.

But even then, they didn’t return to the human domain immediately. No, Atticus had other plans.

They branched off to two different military outposts first.

There, Atticus retrieved Ember and Carius, taking them directly from their military assignments.

Doing so was a direct violation of military protocol. In fact, the commanding officers at the bases had every right to deny him, or even attempt to stop him.

But Atticus hadn’t been asking.

A single release of his aura, and the entire base fell silent, paragons included.

No one moved. No one dared.

He took his cousins without another word.

Only after that did they finally return to the human domain. And through it all, Atticus briefed the paragons on the situation.

As soon as they arrived at the human domain, a high-level meeting was immediately convened between the leaders of humanity and Atticus.

Inside the grand council hall, where the paragons of humanity had gathered, each took their place in identical seats arranged on the same elevation. The Council of Paragons was the ruling body of the human domain and had always led together.

But today, it felt different.

Because only one aura dominated the room.

Atticus Ravenstein.

Though he sat among them like an equal, the sheer pressure he radiated made it feel as though there was only one true leader in that hall.

The room was silent and tense.

Until Atticus finally spoke.

"How long can the Aegis shield last?"

The question caught many off guard. A few paragons shifted in their seats, confused.

Why was he asking that?

Most hadn’t been briefed yet. They didn’t even fully understand why the emergency meeting had been called so abruptly.

"Why are you—" Octavius began to speak with furrowed brows.

But Oberon cut him off, his expression grim.

"One and a half months at most."

The room went still again as Atticus narrowed his eyes slightly, falling silent.

Octavius and a few others exchanged questioning glances before turning back to Oberon.

"You better explain what’s going on."

Until now, today was supposed to be the military camp banquet, a celebration marking the recruits’ final days before their graduation. Yet all they’d gotten were alerts that something had happened at the military camp.

Oberon sighed slightly and began recounting the events.

"The Dimensari and Dragon apexes betrayed the alliance. They brought a Zorvan colonel into the camp. But our apex defeated him."

Gasps rippled through the hall and eyes widened. Mouths opened.

That couldn’t be real. And yet, the aura Atticus still radiated… the chilling, oppressive weight in the room, made denying it impossible. freeweɓnøvel.com
