Atticus's Odyssey: Reincarnated Into A Playground novel Chapter 1089

Chapter 1089 Yawn

The last time Atticus had seen that supposed 'human' was during his battle with the Vampyros elder, Yorowin.

Back then, he had appeared out of nowhere, holding back the blood queen Jezenet, someone Atticus hadn't been able to handle at the time.

He had saved him. However...

'It's not the only time!

Atticus thought of it clearly. It wasn't the only time. Whisker had also saved his life back at the Nexus banquet, when the paragons of other races had tried to force him into signing a mana contract.

Two times. Whisker had saved his life twice now, more than Atticus could remember anyone else ever had. Still, he didn't know how to feel about the beast.

'He's too unpredictable!

The last time Atticus could say they had spoken deeply was right here, in this very estate. That night had been... different.

Their conversation had taken an unusually serious turn, something that sharply contrasted with the carefree, wild Whisker he was used to.

That night, Whisker had seemed... burdened.

Atticus couldn't explain it.

'I should go.

He didn't even need to think about it. Whisker had sent him into danger that night, yes, but he had also gained a power that far outweighed the risks he took.

It didn't change the fact that Whisker had been an invaluable presence in his life.

With a single movement, Atticus shot into the skies in a blur, his speed so extreme that even a streak couldn't form. As he reached the upper skies, he turned toward Dusktown, and vanished again.

Dusktown was within the same sector as Ravenspire: Sector 3. At his current level, reaching it barely took a second.

He blipped into existence above it, silent.

As he soared over the area, his eyes caught on a massive crater below. But that wasn't his destination. No.

He had been to Dusktown before when he was a child, specifically to the Vermore estate that once belonged to one of the tier-two families of Sector 3. But they were long gone now. After betraying the Ravenstein family, they had been annihilated. What remained of their once-grand estate was nothing but a scar on the land, a hollowed crater.

Atticus moved on, streaking toward the outskirts of Dusktown, closer to the border of Sectors 3 and 4.

And there it was.

A gaping wound in the world. Vast, dark, and silent.

Like the open mouth of a god that had swallowed light itself.

Atticus disappeared from the skies and reappeared just above the pit.

The last time he had been here was when Magnus had thrown him into the abyss to train, one of the many things that had shaped him into what he was now.

'The Aegis Shield covers the pit!

He had already confirmed that the moment the shield was activated weeks ago.

There was no way he'd leave that kind of security gap unaddressed, not even if it was Whisker. Hostile or not, he wasn't taking chances.

"Where is he?"

Light and sound could still pass through the shield, but his perception couldn't. With his current strength, seeing through the darkness should've been easy, but not with the shield in place. It blocked him.

So he had to wait.

Atticus sighed and hovered in silence.

Minutes dragged by. But there was no Whisker.

His frown deepened, and his patience was thinning.

'He could be playing a prank on you!

Even Ozeroth sounded doubtful but enraged. He had gone through Atticus's memories and had also lived through an incident Whisker had sent him to firsthand. He knew

how unhinged that beast could be.

'No... I think there's really something!

Whisker could be wild, lazy, completely unpredictable, but Atticus had seen the moments when he turned serious. He wasn't playing this time.
