Atticus remained silent.
"They're twins," Whisker said finally. "And the reason I said they count as one is because, individually, they're nothing special. But they always fight together. Always."
Atticus exhaled slowly. "…Are they strong?"
"Yes." Whisker didn't hesitate.
A long silence settled between them. Then Atticus asked, "So… what are you suggesting?"
Whisker paused, clearly impressed that Atticus had already picked up on where he was headed.
A grin slowly stretched across his porcine face.
"Isn't this the perfect time for a power up?" he said.
"I'll teach you how to use your will."
…
The Zorvan's planet was a world of blue.
They were the overlords of mana. They lived in it. Thrived in it.
Mana wasn't just a tool, it was the very fabric of their civilization.
The bulk of their structures were crafted from pure mana constructs, held together by runes pre programmed for specific functions. Their machines, their tools, even their daily lives, were all shaped by mana in one form or another.
It was deeply ingrained in their society.
They drank mana, ate mana… and, though not as straightforward as people often imagined, they even pooped mana.
Regardless, in this radiant blue world, a castle sat at its heart.
And the first thing anyone would think upon seeing it was how utterly out of place it looked.
Everything around it shimmered with mana, glowing gently with soft blue hues.
But this castle…
It was black. Entirely black.
Made from some ancient material that looked like it could weather any storm.
Inside the castle, the sound of two footsteps echoed through the grand halls, breaking the silence.
"I wonder why big brother is calling for us. Did they finally find that human boy?"
The soft voice of a woman rang out, almost too gently for the cavernous space.
But after a moment, no reply came.
She frowned slightly. "Kaelith, you're doing it again."
The second figure, Kaelith, turned his head toward her with an expressionless face.
"Lysara, I don't know. If I did, I wouldn't have to follow you to find out."
The frown on Lysara's face deepened. "I know you don't know!"
Kaelith simply blinked at her. "Then why did you ask?"
Lysara clicked her tongue. "You know, just because you came out first doesn't mean you always have to act like a bully."
Kaelith sighed, turned away, and picked up his pace without a word.
Lysara huffed. "Hey! Are you trying to abandon your little sister?"
She quickly followed, hurrying to catch up.
The Twins of Bloom and Bright.
That was what they were called across the Zorvan world, and beyond, throughout the middle planes.
Both had the distinct features of shimmering blue hair and glowing crimson eyes.
And should Atticus ever see them, he would recognize them instantly, especially considering Whisker had just finished telling him about them.
Lysara and Kaelith.
Whisker's siblings.
Lysara wore a flowing asymmetrical cloak made of blooming leaves and layered moss.
