Was Grey Jealous of Ash?
Pain jolted inside my chest. I swallowed hard, pushing that unwanted emotion away. At least there gone, i told myself, walking into the kitchen to place the steaming hot dishes on the food tolley. Having Grey in the moon will worked was like trying to walk on fire. I was glad he wasn’t there anymore, watching me with that hawk ke gaze. A sigh escaped my lips as I pushed the food trolley out of the kitchen door
I returned to the table where the brothers were seated. At the sight of me, they turned in my direction, their gazes lingering on my face, as though they hadn’t yet recovered from the shocking similarities I shared with their grandmother would love to meet her in person to see how far our similarities went. I shrugged at the hopeless thought in my head and diverted my full attention to transferring the food from the trolley to the table.
“Happy birthday!” The man with the blue lagoon eyes and midnight black hair spoke. My head snapped in his direction, my eyes wide and my mouth parted open as I realized he held a phone in his hand.
A deep blush crept onto my cheeks, Luckily, no one noticed my embarrassment. I immediately resumed placing the platters on the table until everything was neatly arranged.
When I finally placed the last platter on the table and was satisfied with the wholesome arrangement, I turned to them with a smile on my lips and said, “Please enjoy your meal.”
“Is that Grandma Leilani?” Before I could push the food trolley away, I heard one brother ask.
“Yes,” was the last word I heard before I made it across the room.

The kitchen was in a hustle. A throng of guests had just entered the restaurant, and orders were coming in swiftly. To make matters worse, one of the kitchen staff received an emergency call from home and was forced to leave in the middle of her duties.
Instead of returning to the dining area where I should be, I filled in for the absent staff and channeled my energy into the bustling kitchen. I washed dishes, garnished plates, sliced what needed to be sliced, and did everything I could to make the flow in the kitchen more efficient.
By the time I emerged from the kitchen, the throng of customers had finally subsided, and only a few guests remained in the dining area. The table where the brothers were seated was now empty, but they left an astounding one hundred–dollar bill on the table.
I eyed the glass door, hoping to find one of them standing there to thank him for the tip, but the upscale door was empty. A sigh of regret escaped my lips as I took the tip and slipped it into the front pocket of my uniform.
Gathering the plates and stacking them carefully, I placed them on top of a round tray and carried them to the kitchen to be washed. It took me three trips to empty the table of glassware, cutlery, and plates.
As I was aligning the chairs symmetrically, a sudden discomfort descended on my shoulder. It was an unusual feeling I had whenever I was being quietly watched. Abruptly, I turned around to see who it was.
I stood frozen in my place when a pair of charcoal eyes met mine.
Grey’s stepbrother, Ash Bradford, was standing right in front of the upscale door with a bouquet of red roses in his hand. There was no time to escape. Before I could even move a muscle, he crossed the distance between us and pressed a kiss on my cheek. “Happy birthday, Lily,” he whispered against my ear.
It was that untimely moment when Grey appeared at the door and witnessed the scene.
Grey’s face twisted into an ugly mask of rage. His hands balled into fists at his sides. For a moment, I thought he would march over to where Ash stood and smash his fists into his face. But then he surprised me by unclenching his fists. Defeat flickered in his eyes, then pain and loss. Before I could figure out what he felt deep within, the emotions on his face vanished, and he turned as hard as stone.
He walked away in a matter of seconds before I could even move an inch.
“For you, Lily,” Ash said, his deep voice making me turn to him. He thrust the bouquet of roses into my hand before I could express my objections. This is so wrong, I thought to myself as I reluctantly took the flowers. Ash was my husband’s brother; he couldn’t just pop out of nowhere and kiss me on the cheek like that. And the flowers? Anyone would think he was courting me now.
“I don’t want you to do that again, Ash. I’m war Successfully unlocked! ss me on the cheek without my permission, I will hit you in the face. I won’t even hesitate to quit puu, iwanie. Anger flared in my eyes; he must have seen it, but he just shrugged in response.
“It’s just a simple peck on the cheek, Lily,” he replied nonchalantly, as though Grey hadn’t seen him kiss me. “I’ve kissed women on the lips, and they don’t even care. In fact, they liked it.”
