Chapter 194: Is this a prank?

Kellen’s first guiding session went without a hitch. The Esper was respectful, and also a Telekinetic, so they were well matched. Without doing a compatibility check, Kellen could tell that they were about the average. Under any other circumstances that would have made Kellen very happy.

But he was already paired, so it didn’t matter to him that much anymore. But for scientific reasons Kellen was keeping notes on everything. He was sure that Casper and Taylor would be interested since he had jumped Classes.

The first Esper was actually in a decent state. When Kellen stepped inside and checked them out he found that they were a giant waterfall that fell in several layers. Like there were several pools that filled until bursting and fell into the next one. That made it quite easy to monitor since if they weren’t at their full power one or more of the waterfalls wouldn’t be activated.

Kellen shouldn’t be so surprised that an S Class Esper’s powers weren’t straightforward like this, but it did make him appreciate the regular folk more.

His next two guiding sessions were a bit awkward, but not for Kellen. Kellen was just doing a job. But the new recruits were clearly worried about the Captain’s pair guiding them. The idiots even offered to be guided at the same time. Kellen had to hold himself back from going into a lecture about why they shouldn’t offer that to anyone, ever, and instead just yanked the proper one into the guiding room with him.

The new recruit, who Kellen really felt was just a child, was an Elemental Esper. A fire Elemental. They weren’t the worst for Kellen to work with, but when Kellen stepped inside him, he found that he was staring down a giant, flaming beast.

Oh boy.

It was a hard session, since Kellen could only give the beast giant vats of water to drink from to quench its thirst. Kellen would have to ask Brent to trade a different Esper with him, since it wasn’t good for either Guide or Esper if the compatibility was so terrible. The Esper also felt it too, and when they finished the session, Kellen told him of his plan.

At first the kid wanted to protest, but when Kellen mentioned Brent’s name, the kids’ eyes lit up from within. Kellen wanted to roll his eyes, surprised and not surprised that Brent had caught another one.

It wasn’t as if Brent slept with everyone who had a crush on him. The man did have standards. What they were, Kellen had no idea, but there were some people who the man wouldn’t even touch.

Kellen had a feeling this new recruit was one of them.

After taking a 15 minute break, Kellen attended to the next Esper, who happened to be Physical Strength Esper. When checking on him he had a huge flower garden inside of him. The tiny, orange wild flowers that dotted the space made it seem like Kellen could get lost inside of the fields forever. Kellen chuckled, able to tell from the vastness of the field that the kid had a good future ahead of him.

He would just need to nurture his powers well to live up to the expectations placed on him.

Unlike the previous Esper, they did have good compatibility, so Kellen wasn’t worried about any sessions they would need. He sent the second off with a smile and a wave as he sat back and drank a few shakes to replenish his energy. Checking his phone for emails or messages, he found that Guiding Center D had finally gotten back to him.

They were asking if this was a prank email.

Kellen blinked.

He hadn’t even considered that as a possibility as to why the other Guiding Centers might not be responding back to him. Worried, Kellen made it his mission to visit at least Guiding Center C and D today. Hopefully checking in on Guiding Center B and E tomorrow, and leaving Guiding Center A out of it completely. ƒгeewёbnovel.com

He didn’t like them, they didn’t like him, and they had most of the people who hated Kellen because of who he was as a person. Why on earth would he want to work with them if he had any other choice?

Responding back quickly to the email now that he had seen it, he promised that he was in fact, Kellen Woods, he was reaching out to them for help, and he was sincere about it. He added that he planned to visit them today just after 12 to speak with them in person. Hopefully they would be willing to work with them. He knew that the lower level Guiding Centers didn’t have many A Classes or even B Classes to spare, and that was fine. Kellen knew how dedicated most C Classes were when it came to their jobs.

All they needed was some help. A bit of relief.
