Guide Me If You Dare novel Chapter 188

Chapter 188: THE BROKEN PACT

YUNO shared Matthew’s message with Ki Gayoon with a heavy heart, holding his lover’s hand while they were sitting side-by-side on the sofa in the VIP Room’s lounge area.

The news he shared was about Matthew’s death.

No, Esper Matthew was murdered by Esper Ryu Sungbin.

To be honest, Yuno thought Ki Gayoon would lose it right away.

However, he was wrong.

Ki Gayoon remained calm.

"I already figured it must be the case the moment you said you saw Matthew’s ghost," Ki Gayoon said calmly, but he was clenching his hands tight. "Can Matthew hear me?"

"Yes, Hyung," Matthew, who was actually standing in front of them, said while nodding. "I can hear you."

"Esper Matthew-ssi can hear you, Gayoon Hyung."

Gayoon just nodded, and then he asked out loud: "Do you remember who’s the person possessing your body? Are they an Esper who have the ability to steal another’s Esper’s body."

To be honest, the idea didn’t sound that outrageous.

After all, if Gates with dungeon monsters could appear, who would doubt the existence of ghosts or people who could possess another’s body?

I mean, everything could happen after the apocalypse.

Yuno had to admit that ’possesion’ as an ability was OP, though.

If they could steal Esper Matthew’s body, then their ability must be at least S-Grade.

"I don’t remember, but I’m sure of one thing: that wasn’t human."

Yuno gasped out loud at what Matthew revealed.

"What’s wrong, Yuno-ya?" Ki Gayoon asked worriedly. "What did Matthew say that got you that shocked?"

"Esper Matthew-ssi said that the "person" who stole his body wasn’t human."

"Then what could it be?"

"A dungeon monster," Matthew revealed bluntly. "A humanoid dungeon monster."

Yuno’s jaw dropped this time— he felt like something poured a bucket of cold water over him.

"Hey, what is it this time?" Ki Gayoon asked nervously. "You look pale, Yuno-ya."

Of course, he’d be pale.

After all, Matthew’s revelation was something that could turn the entire world upside down.

"A humanoid dungeon monster."

Ki Gayoon knitted his eyebrows, shocked and confused. "A what?"

"Esper Matthew said that the "person" who stole his body was a humanoid monster," Yuno said, gulping hard before speaking again. "Does it mean Team Leader Bambi-ssi and the others are working with such monsters?"

Ki Gayoon was about to ask something, but the door suddenly burst open.

Yuno was surprised by their guest.

"I’m sorry for being late," Lee Sarang said solemnly. "Can you explain what I just heard about humanoid dungeon monsters?"

***

HAAAH.

Ki Gayoon already expected it, but Lee Sarang was really bawling her eyes out like a child.

It was understandable since the news about Matthew’s death was devastating.

Even moreso because Matthew just confirmed that Ryu Sungbin killed him.

Hence, Lee Sarang’s reaction was valid.

However...

"I’ll allow you to cry your heart out," Gayoon said, awkwardly patting Lee Sarang’s back. "But once you’re done crying, I need you to pull yourself together. I’ll be fighting Ryu Sungbin soon— and I need you to fight with me."

It wasn’t like he was stopping Lee Sarang from mourning Matthew’s death.

But, to Gayoon, his way of grieving Matthew was avenging his death— by killing the bastards who wronged him.

He wasn’t that arrogant to think that he could bring down all the enemies on his own.

Well, I could die trying, but I don’t want to die. There’s no way in hell I’d be leaving Noh Yuno alone in this fucked up world. So, if I have to lower my pride and ask for other people’s help, I’d do it.

"Oppa, should I do it?" Lee Sarang said, moving her hands away from her face. "Should I force myself to retrieve my memories? I don’t remember what I was up to while I was with Bambi-ssi’s team all these years. So, my memories must have been tampered with."

If those humanoid dungeon monsters could steal Matthew’s body, it wouldn’t far-fetched to assume that those things also messed with Lee Sarang’s memories.

To be honest, that fact was horrifying.

Matthew and Lee Sarang are two of the most powerful Espers in the country. If those things could mess with those two kids, then those things could probably kill the weaker Espers.

"Oppa, I actually talked to Sooin Unnie recently."

"What did Jin Sooin say to you?"

"She encouraged me to remember everything."

"That might be a trap," Gayoon warned Lee Sarang. "We can’t trust Jin Sooin since she’s loyal to Ryu Sungbin."

Many years ago, the people around the Top 5 Espers spread a ridiculous rumor.

Apparently, the only two female Espers among the Top 5 had their favorites.

According to those blabbermouths, Ryu Sungbin was Jin Sooin’s favorite while Gayoon was Lee Sarang’s favorite.

Yes, Matthew was actually treated like a middle child by Jin Sooin and Lee Sarang.

"Oppa, I know I might sound crazy, but I think Sungbin Oppa sent me to you on purpose," Lee Sarang said carefully. "And then Jin Sooin sent Kim Jaeha here for us to find and save the kid."

Gayoon knew that it was plausible, but he still scoffed at the idea. "Are you telling me to give Ryu Sungbin and Jin Sooin the benefit of doubt?"

"You did the same thing with me, Oppa."

That’s probably why her memories were easily manipulated by those things.

Trust Ryu Sungbin and Jin Sooin one last time?

SHOULD I tell Yuyu or not?

Because the only place Leehan isn’t allowed to follow me is in my room, unless it’s a matter of life or death.

If Leehan was this upset with my decision, I could already imagine how upset Yuyu would be once he found out that I took Binbin home.
