Chapter 145 – The Fragment and the Void
Noah stared at the shard of ice floating above his palm, eyes narrowed with intrigue. The power emanating from it was overwhelming—pure, ancient, and cold. It pulsed with such a concentrated essence of ice that, for the first time, he felt it eclipse even his own ice affinity.
Something he hadn’t thought possible.
"What is this, System?"
CRACK—!
Space continued to shatter violently around him, splintering like glass under pressure, but Noah didn’t spare it a glance.
His focus was absolute.
[This is a fragment of the Origin of Ice.]
"...Are you damn serious? I already knew that. I meant—tell me more than that."
[All affinities, all elements and concepts in the universe originate from somewhere—an Origin. These Origins are embedded deep within the universe’s core, guarded by the universe itself. Because to control an Origin... is to control everything it governs.]
[No one has ever truly wielded one.]
[But sometimes, very rarely, fragments of these Origins scatter across the universe. What you hold is one such fragment.]
[Even as a shard, it’s enough to push your ice affinity to the Transformation Rank—at the very least.]
Noah absorbed the explanation in silence. Slowly, his lips curled.
"So even things like Limitlessness, or Transcendence—they have an Origin too?"
[Everything has an Origin.]
He grinned.
"Then theoretically... if I collect all of them—every Origin in existence—and fuse them into myself...?"
The system didn’t answer right away. It paused. For once, it hesitated.
Then—
[You will walk the path toward perfection.]
Noah chuckled under his breath, eyes gleaming.
"Another goal for the list, then."
Yes. Things were getting more and more interesting.
And Noah’s spirit was screaming adventure.
But first things first—
"Let’s figure out why Elira wanted this fragment. Then I’ll build the realm for my women... solve Isaac and Albert’s problems... and, of course, the Campbell family..."
CRACK—!
"And once Sophie becomes Empress..."
"I’ll make them my race."
"But for now... let’s wrap this Battle of throne.
CRACCCK—!
Noah frowned, glancing around. The space had fractured so deeply now that through the cracks... he could see it.
The Void.
Dark. Endless. Cold in a way no ice could replicate.
And... inviting.
Noah tilted his head slightly, sensing it. He felt an urge to step in—yet his instincts screamed danger. A warning he didn’t take lightly.
"How curious," he murmured softly.
Then, without another word, he vanished from the collapsing dungeon.
...
Far beyond that space, deep within the black expanse of the Void, something stirred.
A beast.
Gigantic, monstrous, covered in slick, glistening black scales. Millions of tentacles writhed across its massive form, and its eyes—endless and pitch-black—gazed toward the collapsing space where Noah once stood.
It had been watching him. From the moment the space cracked open, it had seen him.
"What a curious being," a voice purred—low, sultry, and unmistakably feminine.
One tentacle drifted lazily toward the dungeon’s boundary—but it stopped, blocked by invisible forces.
"As expected. I can’t enter."
But she didn’t mind.
She had the coordinates now.
"I’ll wait for an opportunity," she whispered.
This is the first time since eons she had seen something interesting.
So she will wait.
And when you’re eternal, when you’ve lived through eons, patience is nothing.
"I must see that being again..."
Yes. Noah had gained a stalker.
...
Back in the white realm.
Noah reappeared in his human form—silver hair cascading down, and his ever-shifting white eyes filled with runes pulsing like living sigils.
Instantly, three heads turned—Elira, Shadeva, and Selene.
And—
"Fuck."
"Oh..."
