Louise spoke lightly with a faint smile on her lips. But the moment her words faded away, an eerie silence descended upon the room.
Shannon silently munched on the snacks on the table and acted as if none of this had anything to do with her.
Meanwhile, Thalia turned to look at Louise in surprise. Her expression clearly said, "How do you even know that?"
Louise naturally knew everything she wanted to know and often knew no less than Thalia herself.
For example, she knew that these younger Jensens hadn't exactly welcomed Shannon warmly at the beginning.
Her mention of this in front of the Jensens wasn't out of the desire to settle old scores. To her, being excluded, belittled, or mocked wasn't worth fussing over.
Every demon youngling had to go through trials in their growth. If they ever encountered someone trying to block the way or make things hard, they would just have to find a way to deal with it themselves.
The demon clan would protect their younglings, but only when their child was faced with absolute power imbalances.
Louise didn't come to demand justice, but that didn't mean she wouldn't make her position clear. She wanted the Jensens to understand that this might be their home, but neither Thalia nor Shannon stood alone.
Not one for pointless social niceties, Louise stood up soon after her reminder to Marie.
Though she could have simply vanished on the spot, she had to maintain today's persona and allowed the Jensens to escort her to the door.
She didn't have them follow her all the way out and let Shannon and Thalia accompany her to the gate.
As they passed the garden, the corner of her eye caught sight of the mosaic scutes tortoise sprawled lifelessly on the grass.
With just a glance, she instantly detected the lingering ten-tailed supernatural energy on it and recognized the trapped consciousness within.
