Mike had, of course, seen the ID picture from the alternate world array because the person in the picture was himself.
Even if the two words somehow connected, how could the array have happened to link him with someone he associated with from the other side?
Unless… The array might naturally pull together the most closely connected people from both worlds.
When Lexie said so, Mike recalled the ID picture he'd received. His gaze sharpened slightly, and he suddenly proposed, "Maybe… I should meet him."
His sudden words threw Lexie off guard, and she confusedly asked, "Meet who? The alternate you?"
When Mike nodded, her expression instantly darkened. "I don't think you should."
They now knew that this alternate world was a parallel dimension of their own.
Though Lexie wasn't an expert on the rules of parallel worlds, her instincts warned her not to meet their alternate selves.
Two versions of the same person existing in one world was a glitch. If they actually met, who knew what kind of rules they would be breaking? Now that they knew nothing about the world's hidden rules, they had better stay put.
Mike knew all of this, too. Otherwise, he wouldn't have instinctively ducked during the livestream when the camera turned their way.
Yet, the same Mike, who'd been so cautious just moments ago, now seemed to have been possessed by some obsession.
"No. I have to meet him! I want to see what kind of pathetic alternate version of me he is without spiritual energy and mystic arts!"
As his close companion for three years, Lexie naturally sensed that something was off. Not just her, but Heston, who'd been listening quietly nearby, also looked over.
Before she could ask anything, the apartment doorbell rang.
They all thought it was Eddie and Macaron coming back. But before anyone could move, Mike was already on his feet and heading straight for the door.
He pulled it open, and everyone inside and outside froze.
