In the apartment's study, "Eddie" and "Mike" sat across from each other, exchanging puzzled looks. They weren't involved in the group discussion.
Truth be told, Eddie had suspected for the past two years that Fennec was hiding a few secrets.
Now that a bunch of her "friends" had shown up at her apartment, despite her being known as a loner, it naturally raised some suspicion.
However, he understood that everyone had their own circle and secrets. If Fennec didn't confess, he wouldn't pry either.
Still, as he faced the zoned-out Mike, he couldn't help but ask, "Are they talking about you out there? Did you do something?"
Otherwise, why was he specifically excluded from the discussion when they had come together as a group?
Eddie had returned from walking Macaron, so he naturally didn't catch the scene of two Mikes shoving their knives at each other. Thus, he assumed the Mike before him was the Mike from before.
"I don't know what they're discussing," Mike replied softly. He paused briefly and added, "I'm not a part of their group."
The one who was in the group had disappeared somehow.
Mike's reply only rendered Eddie even more confused. Did they have a fallout?
Still, considering they had just met, he knew better than to act on his gossiping instincts.
Another stretch of uneasy silence lingered in the study until finally, some noise came from the living room outside. Fennec knocked on the study door and gestured for them to come out.
It was getting late, and negotiating any sort of cooperation with the Alternate Divine Power wasn't something that could be settled in a day.
First, they needed to arrange lodging for Shannon and her group.
"Ms. Wynthorpe and Shannon can stay here. I'll take the others to a nearby hotel for now," Fennec said.
