Trevor laughed out loud. “Haven’t you all always looked down on Luna? Are you all now willing to be friends with her now that she’s left Professor Hanley’s team?

“Luna, don’t let these people fool you. Only we truly care about you. We want you to join the top medical teams in the country and secure a bright future!

“Everything we’ve done has been for your own good. These people will only drag you down, so don’t let them deceive you and turn against us. That would be ungrateful of you!”

“You…” Jade was so furious she nearly jumped up to slap him.

This hypocrite–a total scumbag, cheating people out of their money and still having the nerve to claim it was for their good. She had never seen anyone so shameless.

Luna stopped Jade. “I know. So, Trevor, pay me back.”

“Pfft…” Talia and the others couldn’t hide their laughter, realizing that Luna hadn’t cared

what he said.

They thought she did a good job.

In the end, Trevor did pay the money back. With Talia and the others watching him, he couldn’t afford to lose his reputation. Plus, he could tell that Luna had changed, and she might really expose him on the campus forum if he didn’t pay up.

He was about to graduate–he couldn’t let this ruin his future.

Trevor left the clothing store, grumbling. The more he thought about it, the more upset he became.

Luna hadn’t been like this before. How had she become so hard to deal with? Not only did she embarrass him in public, but she also insisted on getting her money back.

Being humiliated was one thing, but that money drained the life out of him.

The money Luna lent him had long been spent. He had no money to pay her back, and the amount he had just returned to her was borrowed from Kevin at the last minute.

Trevor still didn’t know how he was going to pay it back.

He carefully reflected on everything that had just happened. Had Luna insisted on this because of Daphne’s words?

He admitted that those words were harsh. When Luna first joined the team, she hadn’t been particularly outstanding, which led to suspicions about why she was allowed in.

Many people had wanted to join Wilson’s team, but Luna was the only woman allowed. She was obedient and well–behaved, always listening to them.

If Luna had been a little more fashionable and self–aware, maybe things wouldn’t have turned out like this. However, she never cared about appearances, always dressing sloppily and looking too plain.

Rumors about her might have started long ago, too.

As for him, with his flashy lifestyle, people would often ask him about Luna and how they

interacted.

He had just made a few careless remarks and said some hurtful things about her. It was all in an attempt to clear the air, making it seem like there was nothing inappropriate going on

between them.

How had she not understood that? She had misunderstood him and failed to see his good intentions–she was really ungrateful!
