Suzanne murmured, "But you don't have a fever."
Still feeling worried, she placed her palm on Austin's cheek. Her fingers moved across his skin, and each touch was like a spark of fire, making his temperature rise even more.
Austin caught her restless hand and murmured, "Suzanne, stop moving."
She looked up, only to find his eyes dark with desire. In an instant, her face flushed red with embarrassment.
Austin…
Suzanne quickly sat upright and kept her gaze straight ahead, not daring to look at him. Her heart raced a little faster at that moment. She tried to pull her hand back, but he held it tightly. In a husky voice, he said, "Let me hold your hand for a while."
It was a simple request, but his words sent heat through her, making her tremble.
The air in the already cramped car was heavy with an unspoken desire. All of her senses were on their intertwined hands.
The car pulled away smoothly, but Suzanne's mind was a mess. She glanced sideways out of the window, biting lightly on her lower lip. How did the atmosphere change so suddenly?
She rolled the milk candy against her tongue and bit down lightly, letting the sweetness spread across her mouth. Then, the corners of her lips lifted into a smirk. She suddenly turned to Austin and asked in amusement, "Mr. Hall, do you want a kiss?"
The car came to a screeching halt. Fortunately, they hadn't been going fast, so neither of them was hurt.
Austin's eyes smoldered, looking dark and intense as he looked at Suzanne. He asked through gritted teeth, "Did you do that on purpose?"
She knew he was holding back and restraining himself, yet she dared to tease him so blatantly.
His gaze was too intense for her to handle. She quickly looked out the window and cleared her throat before saying, "No, I believe you're an honorable man who wouldn't lose control."
The amusement in her eyes lingered, and Austin was left speechless. She was using his own words against him.
