Austin quickly took off his gloves and said gently, "Don't move. Let me do it."
He then carefully lifted Suzanne's upper eyelid and gently blew over her eye. After making sure that whatever was irritating her eye was gone, he said, "Done. Try blinking and see if it's still there."
Suzanne slowly opened her eyes and blinked a few times. After confirming there was no discomfort, she finally let out a breath of relief and smiled at Austin. "It's fine now."
However, the two of them were too close to each other. As Suzanne spoke, she unconsciously leaned forward toward Austin just a little, closing the distance between them even further. At such proximity, their breaths fell softly against each other's skin.
Austin's eyes narrowed slightly, his gaze involuntarily falling on her slightly parted lips. Those lips were like forbidden fruit, tempting him to kiss her.
Suzanne sensed something was off. Her cheeks flushed red, and just as she was about to back away, she realized her legs had gone numb from crouching for so long. The moment she tried to stand, her legs gave way.
He instantly reached out, catching her just in time.
As she fell into his embrace, her soft lips brushed against his ear. Her warm breath swept against his neck, tickling the fine hairs at his nape and sending a shiver down his spine.
Realizing her position, Suzanne panicked and tried to pull away from him.
But suddenly, his gaze darkened, and a wave of heat swept over him as his arms instinctively tightened around her. He leaned in close to her ear, whispering in a deep, husky voice, "You started this."
Before she could protest, he lifted her chin up and planted a kiss on her lips. Their breaths instantly grew chaotic.
Suzanne's mind was in turmoil, and she found herself unable to think straight, let alone push him away. The sensation of his lips on hers was warm and inviting, sending tremors through her heart. Slowly, her eyes fluttered shut, and she wrapped her hands around his neck.
Feeling her response, Austin's movements turned urgent like a sudden thunderstorm as if he was about to consume her entirely.
His breath was ragged, his voice dropping to a low murmur. "Suzanne…"
