‘Why can’t Daddy come home with us?‘ Marshmallow whined. ‘Do you not like him, Mommy?’

Darya gently rapped the dog’s head. ‘Please stop calling him that.”

‘But he created me.”

I thought Dr Code and Dr Urner created you.‘

“They helped, too. But Daddy was the one who wrote my programme.‘

‘Fine.‘ Darya shrugged. ‘Just don’t mention his name in front of me.‘

‘Why?‘

Callan pinched the dog’s ear with two fingers. ‘Why do you have so many questions?‘

‘I’m designed to learn through the Socratic Method.‘

‘The what?‘

‘A method of inquiry that seeks to explore complex ideas by asking questions.‘

Callan blinked. ‘You are one smart doggy, Marshmallow.‘

‘So, can I have an answer to my question?‘ Marshmallow aimed his cute puppy eyes at Callan, who gave in after three seconds.

‘Fine, I’ll tell you.‘ Callan glanced around, made sure no one was watching him, then leaned in and whispered, ‘The man’s a villain, a big bad wolf. Since Callan planned to laze around the house for a couple of days, Darya left Marshmallow there to keep him

company.
