Whitney pinched Tina’s chubby cheeks, grinning. “I don’t have time right now—your dad’s situation is a bit more urgent. But Tina, if all goes well tonight, you might just have a new mom by tomorrow. So, will you let me go?”

Tina paused for a second, her clever little face scrunching up in thought. Then, with a dramatic sigh, she stepped aside and made room. “Please! You gotta help my daddy!”

Whitney couldn’t help but laugh. “You’re just too sweet—how could I say no?”

She shot Sammy a look, silently telling him to keep an eye on Tina, and spun on her heel to leave.

As Whitney walked away, she raised an eyebrow and shook her head, thinking, That kid is just too cute. Guess Sandy did something right after all.

Three hours to go until four o’clock… I wonder if Shane can actually win Sandy over in that apartment?

Deep down, Whitney knew she was setting Sandy up. It was a bit of a trap, really.

Suddenly, in the hospital room, Ludwik’s sharp blue eyes narrowed at her, full of accusation. “So this is your big plan? Lock them up at home together, hoping something just magically happens? Are you really trying to force them together like some kind of old-school arranged marriage?”

Whitney saw the disapproval written all over his handsome face and felt her confidence waver. She pressed her lips together and shot back, “Well, do you have a better idea? Sienna’s already making her move. If there’s a first time, there’ll be a second. My grandma’s watching like a hawk, and tonight, even if it’s not perfect, it’s still a golden opportunity!”

Ludwik’s voice turned cold. “Did you even think about how Sandy might feel? She doesn’t know any of this. To her, this is no different from being forced.”
