Love beyond the mask (Whitney) novel Chapter 1220

A dangerous, hungry breath filled the room. A tall shadow loomed, swallowing up every inch of space around her. Sandy suddenly realized—she had nowhere left to run.

It was Shane. He was here.

A cold wave washed over Sandy’s usually tough eyes. She’d never been this terrified in her life.

This was a flesh-and-blood man—solid, tense, desperate to lose control.

She could feel the heat of his threat, pressing into her lower back, leaving no room to doubt his intentions.

Had she ever been this close to a man before?

Never. Not even once.

Her voice trembled, panic making it unsteady as she tried to push him away. “Shane! Did Sienna slip you something? Did she drug you?”

His big hands slid down from her waist, acting purely on instinct.

He was breathing hard, voice thick with need as he searched her body for more. “Sandy…”

“Stop! Just—stop it! You’re not yourself, Shane. You need to get away from me, now!” she pleaded, desperate.

He blinked down at her, confusion flickering in his dazed blue eyes. He was so much bigger than her, holding her in place as he leaned in, his lips finding the pale skin of her neck. His tongue darted out, possessive, leaving marks as he bit down.

His breathing got rougher, hotter. He groaned, voice ragged with need, “I don’t feel right, Sandy. Please… just help me.”

“You shouldn’t be here with me! Whitney locked me in here on purpose,” Sandy protested, struggling against his strong arms. His unfamiliar scent overwhelmed her, even as he pressed closer, his lips finding hers in a hungry, reckless kiss.

No—this couldn’t be happening.
