Abigail stepped out of the employee elevator and onto her office floor. The moment she appeared, murmurs spread among her colleagues like wildfire.

“Ms. Winchester is here.”

“She looks like she’s ready for a showdown.”

“Good for her. Someone needs to put Caroline in her place.”

Ignoring the whispers, Abigail kept her head high, her heels clicking decisively on the floor as she strode toward the office at the end of the hall.

The door was half open. Inside, a chaotic pile of her belongings littered the floor. Standing at the doorframe, Olivia was firmly blocking the entrance. Her arms spread to stop the people inside.

“Ms. Yannis, even if Ms. Winchester has been terminated, you can’t just throw out her things.” Olivia’s voice was resolute, her face filled with determination. She stood her ground as if guarding Abigail’s dignity until her return.

“But even if you follow the formal procedures to fire an employee, you have no right to throw away her personal belongings.” Olivia lunged forward, snatching the frame from Caroline’s hands.

The movement sent Caroline stumbling backward, fueling her fury. “That bitch Abigail trained you well, didn’t she?” Caroline sneered. “Do you really think defying me will save you from getting fired too?”

Olivia’s hands tightened around the frame. Her eyes flashed with defiance, but before she could respond, a cold, commanding voice cut through the tension from the doorway. “Caroline, who gave you the right to touch my things?”

The room froze as Abigail stepped inside, her expression as sharp as her words.

Caroline turned to face her, her glare filled with hatred so intense it seemed to scorch her face, already burning from the humiliation Abigail had dealt her earlier. “You’ve got some nerve showing up here, Abigail, you worthless stray…”

“This is my victory,” Caroline declared, spreading her arms as if she already owned the room. “Take a good look, Abigail. This office is mine now. You’ve been defeated, and you’ll crawl out of here with nothing.”

Abigail chuckled lightly, arching a brow, “The game’s far from over, Caroline. Let’s see who’s left standing when it ends.”

Caroline felt a surge of frustration. No matter how hard she pushed, Abigail remained infuriatingly composed. “Look at you,” Caroline sneered, her voice dripping with disdain. “You’ve already been fired, and yet you’re still pretending to be untouchable. Do you even realize how pathetic you look?”

Before Abigail could respond, another voice–calm yet commanding–interrupted, “Who looks pathetic here?”

Caroline whirled around, startled to see Samuel, the company’s second–largest shareholder, standing in the doorway. Her smug confidence wavered. She wondered, “Why on earth would he be defending Abigail?”

Her gaze darted between Samuel and Abigail, suspicion flashing in her eyes. She thought, “Does Abigail have some kind of relationship with him?”

Abigail shot her a cold glare, her voice low and sharp. “Wipe that disgusting look off your face, Caroline.”
