Lucy saw Selina staying silent and immediately became even more confident.
"Mr. Reid, that’s exactly what happened! I kindly advised her to stop coveting things that don’t belong to her, and she... she insulted me!"
Logan’s lips curved slightly. "Oh? How did she insult you?"
"She hit me! Mr. Reid, look at my hand—this vile woman did this to me!"
Logan narrowed his eyes. "Does it hurt?"
The moment those words left his mouth, everyone around them gasped in shock.
Was Mr. Reid... showing concern for Lucy?!
Oh my God! Lucy is so lucky!
Lucy’s eyes lit up with excitement. Seizing the opportunity, she twisted her waist and tried to throw herself into Logan’s arms—only for the man to take a casual step to the side, nearly making her fall.
Still, she was overjoyed and quickly played the victim.
"Thank you for your concern, Mr. Reid! It doesn’t hurt at all! But this maid went too far! She said she dines and sleeps with you every day, and that you can’t bear to be apart from her! Isn’t that complete nonsense?!"
"I only wanted to remind her of her place, but she got angry and attacked me! Mr. Reid, you must stand up for me!"
Lucy spoke with growing confidence.
After all, Mr. Reid was notoriously cold toward women. Any woman who had ever dared to publicly claim she would win him over had been transferred out of the secretary’s office the very next day.
This little maid? She was done for!
Selina blinked, momentarily stunned by Lucy’s sheer audacity in twisting the truth.
"Miss Lucy, do you think Reid Group doesn’t have security cameras?"
Natalia, biting her lip, weakly added, "Sister, I know you don’t like me, but you don’t have to take it out on Secretary Lucy. Mr. Reid is clearly concerned about her—don’t you think you’ve gone too far?"
Lucy dabbed at imaginary tears, waiting for Logan to punish this overreaching little maid.
But the expected punishment never came.
Instead, Logan let out a low chuckle—a sound that carried a trace of indulgence.
"Let me see your hands." he mused.
Lucy immediately stretched out her own. "Mr. Reid—"
But another hand moved faster.
Selina, looking pitiful and aggrieved, softly placed her hand into Logan’s palm.
Lucy’s expression turned ghastly. "Selina! Mr. Reid, look at her! You were clearly asking about me, but this shameless woman—"
Logan barely spared Lucy a glance before idly studying Selina’s hand.
"It’s all red," he noted lazily. "Did you hit her too hard?"
Then, in an offhanded tone, he added, "Next time, just let the bodyguards do it. No need to dirty your own hands."
Lucy choked.
What... what did he just say?!
Selina’s eyes twinkled mischievously as she dramatically pouted, her voice dripping with exaggerated sweetness.
"It’s all Lucy’s fault! Her skin is just too thick! My hand still hurts! Logan, she’s so annoying!"
Logan’s gaze turned cold as he looked at Lucy.
Lucy panicked.
Wait... wasn’t Mr. Reid concerned about her?!
Why was he treating this shameless woman like—like—
In her frustration, she completely lost control.
"Mr. Reid, don’t listen to this lying wench! Reid Group doesn’t allow outsiders to enter. I was just doing my job by keeping her out—"
Selina tilted her head, her tone meaningful. "But why did you stop me, Lucy? Natalia was able to come in. Why couldn’t I?"
Lucy didn’t even think before blurting out, "Natalia is the young miss of the Clark Family! And you? You’re nothing but a lowly nobody! You don’t deserve to—"
"Lucy."
A cold male voice interrupted her.
Lucy instantly felt a terrible sense of foreboding.
Logan’s presence was overwhelming, pressing down on her like a suffocating force. His voice was slow and deliberate.
