Manfred ordered someone to remove the incense burner. Then, he commanded the servant not to tell anyone about Vivian's presence.
With the incense gone, the air felt fresher, and Manfred's headache eased.
Then, his gaze fell on Vivian.
The more he looked, the more captivated he became, and the harder it was to look away.
Vivian felt a bit uneasy under his stare. After all, she still wasn't sure who he really was.
For a moment, she didn't know what to say.
Then suddenly, her stomach let out a loud growl, snapping her back to reality.
She hadn't eaten in days.
For the past two days, she had been in a daze. And even when she was awake, those traffickers certainly wouldn't have fed her.
"I'm hungry. Is there any food?" she asked.
Manfred immediately called for a servant. "Prepare a meal. At once."
As the servant left, they cast Vivian a look. It was a look full of pity.
It was as if they were ordered to prepare her last meal.
Vivian's heart tightened, and a chill ran down her spine. Her instincts screamed danger. So, she quickly ran through the self-defense techniques she had learned since childhood in her head.
The vital points for a swift and deadly strike. Fast, precise and lethal. If she had to, she could protect herself.
"You're definitely important to me," Manfred suddenly spoke after the door closed. His tone was certain and serious.
But before she could react, the world around her darkened.
He was right in front of her. And then, his lips were pressed against hers.
Vivian's eyes widened. She shoved him away. "You—"
Manfred's eyes were dark. Yet within them, there was a flicker of something wild, uncontrollable.

Is the author going to finally portray Skylark as a brave woman who can argue and communicate like a normal person in this real world? Hoping so.......
I don't like this story portraying Skylark's personality as too weak, too naive, Can't even defend herself Like accepting every humiliation from Vera's schemes and injustice without saying anything or doing anything. I wonder who is the protagonist in this novel, Vera or Skylark....
