Manfred had to hold on tightly to the woman before him and trust her unconditionally.
Vivian was stunned. "You trust me?"
"Yes." Manfred's answer was firm and resolute—without a hint of doubt.
Then, he added, "Sterling is a treacherous man."
In the past, he hadn't seen it clearly. But in the past few days, he finally understood what kind of person Sterling really was.
He knew there was something strange about Sterling. But he couldn't quite explain what it was. Or perhaps it wasn't just Sterling but the entire Bowman family.
The Atkinson family had gone down the wrong path since Jayden's generation.
Hearing this, Vivian finally felt relieved. It seemed that Manfred had also seen through Sterling.
She then said, "There's something strange about him. He carries a negative item, and most negative items cause wicked thoughts in people.
"But some don't just harm their owner. They also affect those nearby, clouding their minds and making them lose control of their sanity."
Hearing this, Manfred's expression changed. "So it's a negative item? If Sterling carries one, is there one in this household too? Do I have it on me?"
As he spoke, a strange image flashed through his mind. Vivian pointed at a bronze mirror in it and said it was a negative item. This memory felt familiar, yet an eerie feeling rose within him.
He knew he was not Manfred of Everholm.
And this feeling became clearer the more time he spent with Vivian.
Vivian replied, "There's one in this household too. I can sense it nearby. I've looked around, and there's nothing in your room.
"But the negative item in this Atkinson household affects both you and your father. And based on my estimation, it's been here for about 30 years."
It had been such a long time. By now, those affected were beyond saving.
Even if the evil object was found, it would be nearly impossible to undo the damage. She could only improve the situation slightly.
But what was strange was that Manfred seemed to be affected far less than the others.

More chapters please...
Is the author going to finally portray Skylark as a brave woman who can argue and communicate like a normal person in this real world? Hoping so.......
I don't like this story portraying Skylark's personality as too weak, too naive, Can't even defend herself Like accepting every humiliation from Vera's schemes and injustice without saying anything or doing anything. I wonder who is the protagonist in this novel, Vera or Skylark....
