- Dr. Lambert likes you
"William is still your husband, but you are willing to believe me, he isn't."
Lambert said coldly.
Hearing this, Alice felt unexplainably sad, she helped Lambert to treat his wounds. "But, it was one in the morning at that time, why are you wearing this?"
No one would dress like that in late night.
"It's not that I want to dress like this, but..." Lambert paused and didn't continue.
"But what?"
Alice was suspicious. When David saw Lambert's neat and tidy appearance, he naturally became even more suspicious and treated Lambert as the one who betrayed them.
Lambert sat there in silence for a long time before he said, "But I didn't sleep."
As Alice listened, she trembled. She looked at him in astonishment and suddenly understood what had happened. "It's because you had a quarrel in day time, so..."
That was why Lambert didn't slept all night, and he wasn't dressed like that to run away.
"Heh." Lambert sneered coldly and had a hint of self —mockery in his voice. "Although he called me a friend, in his eyes, I'm actually more of a stranger."
If something happened, David would blame him. If something happened, David would suspect him.
Everything was his fault.
"Dr. Lambert, big brother, he ..."
Alice wanted to say something, but Lambert interrupted her, "No need to say anymore, it's alright. I will carry the blame, but it's useless taking me as a hostage."
Yes, the killer was still outside.
Alice frowned, "Who exactly reported to Lancaster family?"
"My servant and bodyguard disappeared overnight, so it's naturally someone amongst them who leaked the news. Perhaps they all leaked it." Lambert sneered. "You should know that the reward for reporting is great."
So that's how it was.
Alice bit her lips, looked at the rope in Lambert's hand and said, "I'll help you untie it."
"Don't!"
Lambert's eyes suddenly turned cold.
"What's wrong?" Alice retracted her hand.
"He tied it up for me. He didn't need anyone to untie it for me." Lambert said coldly with a trace of stubbornness in his eyes.
He was completely infuriated.
Anyone else would feel uncomfortable if one was misunderstood again and again.
"Dr. Lambert, just explain the misunderstanding clearly." Alice could only say this.
"Miss Alice, this is a matter between him and me, you don't have to mediate." Lambert said as stubbornly as a child. After a long while, he eased up a bit, "Miss Alice, make Mr. William prepare himself, my servant betrayed me. Lancaster will not forgive me, and even more so, will not be threatened. Thus, they will definitely attack us as soon as they are ready, and will not care about my life."
"Alright, I'll go now."
Alice was shocked. Just as she stood up and was about to leave, she heard gunshots outside. The instant the gunshots rang out, William ran back quickly and pulled her towards the back of the Mansion.
"They're making a move. You guys go and hide, I'll push him out!"
David said as he picked Lambert up from the sofa and untied the rope tied to his knees, then pulled him away.
Seeing that, Alice said, "Brother, don't be like this, you misunderstood Dr. Lambert, he did not betray us."
"What did he tell you? Do you believe him?"
David said as he pushed Lambert away.
"Bro, if you push him out like this, it will only make him die." Without hesitation, Alice stood in front of David, preventing him from leaving.
"William, take care of your woman!" David looked at Alice, "Alice, I know you are soft — hearted, but now is not the time!"
"Brother!"
Alice frowned, she was about to say something but was interrupted by Lambert. He stood there with his hands tied behind his back, and laughed disdainfully.
"What are you laughing at?"
William asked.
"The eldest young master is incomparably wise, I admire him immensely. Let's go." He didn't even need David to push him as he walked towards the door. When he walked past Alice, he said, "There's a basement under the desk in my room. Believe me, take them to hide there."
Alice stared at him blankly.
David followed behind Lambert and arrived at the tightly shut door. David's hand was placed on the door, all he needed to do now was open to push open the door.
They would be able to deal with those assassins.
Lambert stood there without resisting at all. He watched David's hand slowly moving toward the door's handle and smiled.
Alice stood there, and when she saw that David was about to open the door, she could not help but shout out, "Brother, if you open the door now, you will only cause harm to Dr. Lambert, he will be killed by the assassins outside!"
With that, David's movements froze for a second and he said coldly: "I already said, don't believe him."
Lambert had always been an eccentric person, so it wasn't strange for him to do anything out of line.
With that, David held the door handle, William pulled Alice away, making her anxious, "Even if he was lying to me, what if, what if you were to open the door, the Dr. Lambert would be killed?"
Assassins are inhumane.
Hearing this, David couldn't help but look at Lambert. The smile on Lambert's face was as ironic as it could get. He then turned to look at William and Alice.
