It wasn’t like the Pierson Family or Pierson Corporation was unknown to Atlas. In fact, he had often heard about them on the rare occasions he attended some events. However, he had paid them no mind, as he had no plans to associate with or offend them.
"Hah!" the chairman sighed heavily, glaring daggers at his grandson. "Atlas, if stepping down will appease them, then you should clear out your desk today."
Atlas glanced at his grandfather, a man he never truly felt was one. "I encountered a Pierson, but I don’t believe I offended him."
"Hmph! If you didn’t offend the Piersons, then why are they here?" the chairman snorted. "You brat! You’ve only been in that position for a short while, but it seems the little power you hold has gone to your head!"
"Grandpa, I think Atlas might be telling the truth," Sven remarked politely, suddenly siding with Atlas. However, Atlas knew his cousin all too well.
The chairman scoffed as he glanced at Sven. "Sven, you should be tougher. In the world we live in, if you’re not tough, you’ll only create weaklings. I despise weaklings. That being said, remember not to become a bully as you strive to be strong."
"Obviously, Atlas has forgotten my teachings!" he continued, once again casting a glare at Atlas.
Atlas remained stoic under his grandfather’s glares and the obvious sneer from his cousin. Just like his expression, his heart also remained still. After all, he unfortunately shared the same blood as them. Other than that, Atlas didn’t feel the need to be hurt by people who would break his heart at a moment’s notice. freёweɓnovel.com
It wasn’t as if the chairman ever treated Charles Bennet’s children as real grandchildren. Instead, they favored their cousins more. Perhaps it was because Charles chose to shield his children from the Bennet rules and teachings that the chairman remained distant toward them.
"I am not a bully," Atlas spoke after a moment, halting the conversation between the chairman and Sven. "I’m not one, I’ve never been one, and I’ll never be one. Slater was bullied, and I refuse to become like the person who caused his suffering."
"Hah! You talk big when we’re already in trouble!" the chairman snorted. "Atlas Bennet, I’ll repeat this one last time: if the Piersons... no, even if the Piersons don’t ask you to step down, if they demand anything after you’ve offended them, then you’re done."
Sven smirked triumphantly, feeling as though those remarks were music to his ears. ’Hah! Atlas, it’s time to get off your high horse.’
"I will." Atlas nodded. "Even with a heavy heart, I will step down, Chairman."
"Good!" the chairman nodded in satisfaction.
"Atlas, just be grateful that Grandpa is here, and that this happened while he’s here. Otherwise, things might have escalated if he wasn’t present!" Sven commented with a tone of relief. "Let’s wrap this up quickly, and then you should apologize to Ito Motors. In that case, everything will still go as planned."
