"Nina!" Penny skidded to a halt when she saw Nina seated on the bench outside the emergency surgery room.
Turning at the sound of Penny’s voice, Nina’s eyes brimmed with tears as she rose. "Penny," was all she could say as she rushed into Penny’s arms. "Penny... what am I going to do?"
"Nina," Penny breathed out, her heart thudding as she rushed in the moment she received Nina’s call. Stroking Nina’s back, she huffed and snapped her eyes to the emergency door behind Nina. "It’s okay, Nina. It’s okay." freeweɓnovel.cøm
"Penny... What am I going to do? What if something terrible happened? I can’t forgive myself!"
Just earlier today, Nina had been with Finn, and the outcome hadn’t been particularly good. Despite their separation, she had never intended to wish him anything terrible. Even so, her heart was filled with not just worry but also guilt.
Nina cried and cried while Penny comforted her silently. When they heard something buzz, both shifted their attention to the door. The lights above it had turned off, and soon enough, a doctor emerged.

Nina’s sniffles echoed in the private ward where Finn was now recovering. She sat beside the bed, keeping her mouth shut in an attempt to muffle her cries. However, her hiccups would still resonate now and then as she held the tip of Finn’s finger.
Meanwhile, Penny stared at Nina from outside the door through the window. She gazed at Nina’s trembling back, sighing deeply. When she turned away from the door, she glanced at the man standing close to her.
"Come with me," she said, and without further ado, she walked away while the man quietly followed her.
Standing in the corner of the hallway, where they wouldn’t be disturbed, Penny gazed at the man. He had a petite but tall stature, with a face familiar from her past life and in the current one. He looked pathetic at a glance, if not for the deep look in his eyes.
"What happened?" she asked, her tone solemn but commanding.
The man studied her for a moment before saying, "We’ve been following him all day, but during his last meeting... we noticed he was acting strange."
"Strange, how?"
"He kept looking around and seemed to be in a hurry."
Penny nodded, grasping the sequence of events. Ever since Finn had stepped out of her office early that morning, she had him followed. They had been tailing him; that was how she got Jonathan’s photos and confirmed the man’s identity.
"Tell me more about it," she ordered quietly, which the man willingly did, detailing everything from start to finish.
Aside from Finn’s visit to Prime Group Headquarters and meeting Nina at the restaurant, he had gone about his day as usual. However, just as the man mentioned, Finn left the restaurant where he met another business associate. From there, it seemed he had been driving around the city aimlessly until he reached an empty freeway where a truck suddenly sped toward his car.
"Luckily, we were there," the man said to Penny. "When the truck hit the rear of his car, I caught someone stepping out."
"The driver?"
