[SKYLINE PLAZA: THE OLD PIERSON RESIDENCE]
Old Mrs. Pierson sat alone in the seat of her study, enveloped in silence. She kept her gaze fixed on the spot where Zoren had previously sat. Normally, she would have gone to bed once Zoren left, but she chose to remain here, pondering Zoren’s inquiry.
"An illegitimate child that isn’t in the family registry," she whispered, her wrinkled eyes narrowing at the thought. "That is impossible."
Everyone who married into the Pierson family, even males marrying female descendants of the Piersons, had to take the Pierson family name. This was the reason the family had grown so large. Despite that, Old Mrs. Pierson had kept a close eye on everyone marrying into the family.
Old Mrs. Pierson had thought about this since Zoren mentioned it, but now she found herself at a dead end. She simply had no explanation for it whatsoever.
"Jonathan Pierson," she murmured, recalling the name Zoren mentioned. "Jonathan Pierson... Jo... Nathan..."
She trailed off as she slowly turned her head toward the bookshelves in the corner. "Impossible," she whispered, pushing herself up. Taking her cane with her, she took small steps toward the bookshelf.
Standing in front of it, Old Mrs. Pierson glossed her eyes over the books before pulling one out. She carefully opened it to a specific page, expecting to find something hidden inside. However, as soon as she opened it, she found nothing.
"Hmm?" Her brows furrowed as she flipped through the pages, thinking she might have hidden it among them. However, it wasn’t there.
"Where did it go?" she wondered, looking at the rest of the books.

"Old Madam." Butler Hubert knocked on the door before reaching for the doorknob. When he opened the door to assist Old Mrs. Pierson to her room to take her medicine, he stopped.
Butler Hubert slowly shifted his eyes to the corner, his brows furrowing as they fell on the books scattered on the floor. Standing amid them was Old Mrs. Pierson, who was hurriedly checking another book.
"Old Madam?" Butler Hubert panicked, rushing to her side. He didn’t know why the Old Madam was making such a mess, but he immediately thought of the worst. After all, the Old Madam was quite old. Therefore, it wouldn’t be surprising if her condition had worsened, and she was now showing signs of dementia.
"Old Madam!" he called again, only to see Old Mrs. Pierson twist her neck to face him. The moment he saw the aghast look on her face, his heart thudded.
"It’s gone," Old Mrs. Pierson breathed out, her eyes wide. "Butler Hu, it’s gone."
"Madam, what is gone?" Butler Hubert asked under his breath.
"Her photo." Old Mrs. Pierson slowly gazed at the remaining books on the shelves and then at the ones scattered on the floor. "That woman’s photo... it’s gone."
"Woman?" Butler Hubert’s knitted brows deepened in confusion. "Old Madam, who is this woman?"
Old Mrs. Pierson didn’t respond immediately, as if she were trying to understand how and why it had gone missing. "Naylani."

Little did they know, Sven was parked a few blocks from the building, watching Atlas leave and then Allen. The corner of his mouth curled into a sneer, his eyes glinting. When he saw Allen driving away from the building, Sven started his car and made his way toward the building. freeweɓnovēl.coɱ
