No matter how indifferent Atlas was to Sven or his antics, he couldn’t disregard the news of Sven’s attempted suicide. He hadn’t heard the full details of what happened to his cousin, but from what Atlas gathered, when his uncle and aunt came to check on their son, they found Sven hanging from the bathroom door.
Thankfully, they arrived right on time, and Sven was saved. Thus, Atlas drove himself straight to the hospital to assess the situation.
Atlas slowed down in the hallway, catching sight of his uncle Stephen outside the ward with a few doctors. He stopped just a few steps away, giving Stephen and the physicians some privacy before the group of doctors bid their farewells.
"Hah!" Stephen huffed sharply, gazing at the doctors as they walked away, only to catch Atlas moving aside to give way. "You—what the hell are you doing here?!"
Filled with rage, Stephen marched up to Atlas and grabbed him by the collar. Pushing Atlas against the wall, he roared, "Why did you come in here, huh?!"
Atlas remained unfazed, looking at his furious relative coldly. "I am the head of the family, so I’m required to check on my family members."
"Bullshit!" Stephen ground his teeth angrily, his eyes shining with malevolence, as if he were only a few inches away from throwing a punch. "My son did this to himself because of you! You framed him and humiliated him... if he had died, it’s on you! You pushed him to the edge, Atlas! You’re the reason he’s here!"
"Stephen?" Suddenly, the door from inside the private ward opened, revealing Stephen’s wife. "Stephen, stop that now!"
Mrs. Bennet rushed to the men’s side, gripping her husband’s arm to stop him. "Stephen! What are you doing?! Let Atlas go right this instant!"
However, her words fell on deaf ears as Atlas and Stephen continued their sharp gazes at each other.
"Atlas Bennet..." Stephen hissed. "You and your arrogance... I will never forgive you for what you’ve done to the people you’re supposed to protect as the head of the family."
"Your son stole a document from me and used it to make negotiations. What happened to him is something he brought upon himself—"
"You brat! I’m going to kill you!"
"Stephen!"
Mrs. Bennet screamed when she saw her husband raise his fist, knowing what Atlas said was more than enough provocation for him. However, she wasn’t the one who called for Stephen to stop.
The person who stopped Stephen from assaulting Atlas was none other than Chairman Bennet.
Holding his fist in the air with his other hand gripping Atlas’s collar, Stephen held his breath. He could see a few figures approaching from the corner of his eye, but he didn’t break his stance. He wanted to punch Atlas and teach this brat a lesson.
"Stephen." Chairman Bennet stopped a few feet away from Atlas and Stephen, frowning. "Stop that now. Assaulting the family head... do you not want to live anymore?!"
"He killed my son."
"Atlas, stop talking," said Charles, earning a faint click of Atlas’s tongue. Charles, however, didn’t care about that as he shifted his burning gaze to Stephen. "Let him go. Stephen, you and I both know that old bone in your arm will break even before that fist can land on my son." ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
