Chapter 172

After ending the call, Valerie turned on the computer.

The computer was not password protected. Once it booted up, Valerie began downloading the game. Thanks to the blazing speed of her new 50 network, the download was completed in no time.

After exchanging friend requests, Valerie entered the game only to find there were already three people on the team.

Aside from Paxton and Jonah, there was another unfamiliar username in the lobby: Miss you.

Valerie barely glanced at the screen before jumping straight into battle with them.

Paxton sounded especially excited. “You’re finally here, Valerie! I’ve been bragging about you to my friends nonstop lately, but none of them believed

Valerie arched a brow. “Hmm?

Her tone lifted slightly at the end, carrying an air of casual indifference.

One sentence was all it took for the comment section to blow up.

[Damn! Her voice sounds amazing!]

[I’ve been waiting forever to catch this livestream–finally, the real deal is here! So hyped!]

I trust Groove 100%! No way he’d lie to us–this woman has to be really good at this game!]

[Just saying–don’t get your hopes up too high, or you might be disappointed.]

Paxton grinned as he read the comments. “That’s why I started a livestream.”

“Livestream?” Valerie glanced at the screen. Nothing seemed different. “Where are you streaming it?” she asked.

“On a professional e–sports platform. Don’t worry, though, most of the viewers are

e just my classmates,” Paxton said with a chuckle.

Jonah’s cool, detached voice chimed in, “He’s been bragging about you at school nonstop, so everyone’s eager to see if you’re really that good.”

Valerie paused slightly, then gave a small smile. “Let’s not go overboard. I’m just playing for fun. Maybe last time was just beginner’s luck.”

Paxton rubbed his nose and said, “Come on, sis, don’t say that! You’re just that good!”

“You’re putting pressure on me,” Valerie said.

Once again, the chat was flooded with comments. [Don’t feel pressured, queen! All you need to do is look pretty!]

Jonah replied coolly, “Understood.”

Valerie asked, “Is the other guy one of your classmates too?”

Paxton said. Nah, that’s my brother the second one.”

Wait, you have another brother?” Valerie asked

“Of course, I have two older brothers.” Paxton said with a playful hum as the match began. “Come on, let’s drop at the airport!”

The auport was always a hotspot. Even before they touched down, the sky was swarming with players dropping in from all directions.

Paxton yelled, “We’re so screwed, we’re totally screwed. There are way too many people–Bro, we’re counting on you!”

Valerie instinctively glanced at Paxton’s brother’s ID. Though his mic was on, he remained silent only the occasional clatter of keyboard keys ctame

through.

Unaware of the growing hype in the chat, Valerie hit the ground running only to bump right into two enemies.

Her heart raced, but she did not hesitate. She made a beeline for the nearest weapon a frying pan.

Without missing a beat, Valerie struck. One hit, one knockdown.

[Your teammate “Valene” knocked down “Goofball Upstairs” with a Frying Pan.]

Paxton said, “Nice one, sis! Hang on, I’m coming!”

The chat was flooded with messages once again.

[Headshot with a frying pan? Damn, sis!]

[Holy crap, that’s insane!]

[Must’ve been luck. No need to hype her up that much.]

The live chat was abuzz with all kinds of comments, and everyone was glued to the screen when, suddenly, the teammate of the player Valerie had just downed grabbed a shotgun and fired at her.

While she may not have excelled in every area, Valerie’s agility stood out–she dodged the attack with ease and rushed toward her opponent.

The screen lit up with a flurry of comments.

[This girl’s a total beast!]

[Is she really challenging him head–on? Ballsy.]

[Let’s go! She’s unstoppable!]

[She’s way too reckless! Serves her right if she dies!]

Paxton rushed toward her, calling out, “Valerie, I’m coming! Hang on!”

But the next second, a system notification popped up: [Your teammate “Valerie” knocked out “Goofball Downstairs” with a frying pan!]

Seeing this, Paxton yelled, “Holy shit! Savage!”

Jonah did not hold back his praise. “You’ve mad skills, Valerie. Even a frying pan becomes a lethal weapon in your hands.”

Valerie, a bit embarrassed by the praise, replied modestly, “No big deal. I do this all the time.”

Though Valerie could not see the flood of comments, the others could and they were very much enjoying the show. Paxton looked proud as could be, grinning from ear to ear. “My brother’s amazing too, and super handsome, by the way. Too bad you’re already married–otherwise, I’d totally want you as my sister–in–law, Valerie.”

Valerie chuckled and said, “Come on now, no worries! I know plenty of gorgeous ladies 1 could set your brother up with one if he’s interested”

All this time, Paxton’s brother remained silent.

Jonah suddenly said, “Bro, 8x scope.”

Paxton’s brother finally made a sound of acknowledgement.

Although it was just a single syllable, the voice was unmistakably familiar–so familiar that Valerie froze for a moment and instinctively looked at the player ID: Miss You.

There was a mic icon next to the name, which meant the voice had indeed come from him.

Her heartbeat quickened slightly, but Valerie quickly reassured herself mentally, ‘It’s probably just my imagination. No way it’s really him. What are the

odds?‘

The match was heating up fast. The poison zone began shrinking, and the safe zone was still far off. Valerie was lagging behind her teammates, unsure how to make the run. That’s when Player 3–Paxton’s brother–pulled up in a vehicle.

Valerie got into the car and thanked him, but the other party remained silent.

“Watch out–someone might be lying in wait on the bridge,” Paxton/warned.

No sooner had he said that than a smoke grenade landed near Paxton and his brother, instantly shrouding their surroundings in a thick white fog.

Valerie drew her gun, eyes sharp and focused–but the attackers made their move fast. “Watch out!” she warned urgently.

No sooner had she spoken than the sharp clink of a grenade rang out.

Reacting instantly, she jumped out of the car–but still took heavy damage. Another grenade landed at her feet. It exploded with a violent blast, sending her flying.
