There’s no need to be so flustered?

Aiden had not said much at all, but somehow, that simple sentence carried a weight Valerie could not ignore like it meant something more.

Talk about a guilty conscience! Valerie thought.

Valerie drew her hand back slightly and looked up at him, eyes faintly red. Her voice trembled as the whispered, “That hurt..”

Aiden felt his heartstrings tug. Without a word, he lifted her hand and kissed it lightly.

Valerie’s face burned crimson with embarrassment. She quickly pushed Aiden away and stepped aside awkwardly.

A smile flickered in Aiden’s eyes as he noticed her embarrassment. “Come on, Camille isn’t an outsider.”

Valerie blushed harder. ‘Seriously, just because Camille’s not an outsider doesn’t mean this isn’t embarrassing!‘ she thought.

Aiden seemed to read her mind. He leaned in a little closer and teased, “A few more times and it won’t feel awkward anymore.”

Valerie hastily withdrew her hand and carried out the steaming bowl of noodles.

Valerie’s handmade noodles were out of this world.

In the previous life, Aiden had always cherished Valerie’s cooking. Aiden would often lose his appetite when he was stressed, but the moment Valerie -handed him a bowl of noodles, he would eat it all without a word.

After unblocking Nelson, Valerie felt a flutter of nervous anticipation.

Valerie was still weighing her words when–suddenly–her phone vibrated.

It was actually a text from Nelson.

Startled, Valerie’s fingers went slack, sending her phone tumbling to the floor.

The microphone was still on, so as soon as the sound of her phone dropping came through, Paxton, Jonah, and the others immediately heard it. Paxto called out cheerfully, “Valerie, you’re back! Come join us!”

However, Valerie’s eyes remained fixed on the phone screen.

On the screen, a text from Nelson popped up. It was just four simple words. [I want to see you]

There was not even a period at the end.

But those words alone were enough to send Valerie’s heart racing uncontrollably–there was simply no way she could calm down.

Valerie could not pinpoint her feelings for Nelson anymore. ‘Is it guilt? Self–reproach? Or just lingering feelings I can’t shake off?‘ she wondered. But or thing was clear–she had never been able to truly let him go.
