Chapter 76
The man was dressed in a gray hoodie, looking tall, sunny, and handsome in a casual outfit. When he saw Valerie, he waved and said, “Hey, was that song you played earlier?”
Valerie froze as soon as she saw his face. Her heart skipped a beat, and her eyes flashed with intense hatred.
It was Russell, one of the people who had loved Juliette the most in the past.
After Juliette discovered her true heritage, she changed her name to Juliette Shelton, becoming the prized daughter of the Shelton family, the only child of her generation.
When Juliette officially reclaimed her identity, she immediately called Valerie, excitedly telling her that she had found her biological parents and sent an invitation for the family reunion.
At that time, Valerie was genuinely happy for Juliette. After getting Aiden’s approval, Valerie attended the event and even prepared a gift for Juliette.
However, at the grand banquet with hundreds of guests, she never saw Juliette but instead ran into Russell.
Russell treated her like a beggar, ordering a few people to hold her down and force her to lick up the wine from the floor. Afterward, she was thrown out like garbage…
Valerie was humiliated and turned into a laughingstock once again.
The Walker family felt utterly ashamed and pressured Aiden to divorce her.
Aiden refused and stood his ground, beating Russell senseless and throwing him in front of Valerie, forcing him to apologize.
But Russell, his face bloodied, only smiled, saying, “Dream on. I’ll never forgive anyone who hurts my sister, even if she’s your wife.”
His sister was Juliette.
Russell was about to ask about the song when he was suddenly startled by the intense look of hatred in the stranger’s eyes.
The hatred was palpable, almost overwhelming.
Russell froze for a moment, but then he realized that the girl’s eyes were clear and clean, without the overwhelming rage he had briefly imagined.
Valerie’s expression remained unchanged, but her heart was pounding painfully fast.
She thought, ‘Could Juliette have already reconnected with the Shelton family? No, that’s impossible…‘
Russell’s eyes were clear, sincere even. He didn’t have the playful, intrigued look he had given her the first time they met.
Valerie stood up quickly and began to walk away.
Russell, stunned that she had ignored him, quickly ran over and called out, “Wait a second.”
Valerie, disgusted, shoved his hand away and snapped, “What do you want?”
Her eyes reflected revulsion, hatred, and a deep impatience. These emotions made it clear—this girl did not want anything to do with him.
Russell was slightly frustrated. “I just wanted to ask…”
“I don’t know. I’m not interested. Leave me alone.” Valerie turned and walked away quickly.
As Valerie passed him, Russell caught a faint scent of perfume in the air.

Chapter 76
It was pleasant. It was a fragrance he had never smelled before. She was stunning, exquisitely beautiful, like something out of a painting.
But her attitude–her temper was just too
bad.
Watching Valerie’s back as she stormed off, Russell rubbed his face in frustration, muttering to himself, “What’s going on? Am I just not handsome enough? Why does she hate me so much?”
Russell had always been the handsome guy on campus, never experiencing anything like this before.
He grabbed a guy who had been secretly watching Valerie and asked, “Hey, do you know the girl ahead of us, the one in the blue jacket and black pants? Who is she?”
The boy blushed, stammering, “I… why are you asking?”
“Just curious,” Russell teased, “Don’t tell me you’re stalking her? Do you like her?”
The boy’s face turned even redder. “No, no… I just… I just come here to listen to her play the piano every day.”
‘So she’s quite popular, huh? No wonder she has such a bad temper.‘
She probably thought he was some kind of creepy stalker.
Russell thought to himself, ‘I’m not a creep. How could a creep be this handsome?‘
Russell was still confident about his looks.
After gathering more information from the boy, he learned that the girl’s name was Valerie, she was a jewelry major, and a top student.
Russell was immediately intrigued.
But by now, Valerie was already far away, walking faster, her expression darkening.
She never expected to run into Russell here.
This man was no good, and at his age, he certainly wasn’t a college student. What was he really after?
Could it be that, since the trajectory of her life had already changed, Juliette had reconnected with the Shelton family earlier, and Russell was here to seek revenge for her?
Maybe he was pretending to be friendly just to deceive her, and then strike back?
Valerie’s heart raced faster. She felt a wave of panic.
But it didn’t make sense…
Given the status of the Shelton family in Endver City, it was just as powerful as the Walker family in Reano City–both were equal in influence.
If Juliette could reclaim her heritage so soon, why would she have waited another two years to return to the Shelton family?
