Chapter24
Her eyes quickly reddened, and she spoke in a somewhat choked voice, “Ambi. it’s my fault, and I apologize. Yesterday, when your dad and I were making the craft, my nail accidentally broke, so I wasn’t able to properly finish the final product. Are you upset because of that?”
With a few words, she stirred Ambrose’s sympathy.
“Auntie Mabel, is your nail okay? I’m not angry, just a bit sad.”
He had come last in the class for his craft; how could he not be sad?
“Ambi, don’t be sad. Didn’t you tell me yesterday about your kindergarten. performance soon? How about I come to play the cello for you? No. charge.”
Ambrose’s eyes lit up. “Really?”
“Of course. When have I ever broken my promise?”
Ambrose stopped crying and smiled, patting his own butt as he stood up. “Okay, Auntie Mabel, let’s make a pinky promise, and don’t back out.”
If the children in his class knew he had such a beautiful aunt who also played the cello very well, it would make them envious and then go crazy flattering him.
Seymour frowned, indicating he didn’t fully agree.
However, he couldn’t resist Ambrose’s eager requests. Considering that Ambrose had just been embarrassed in front of all the children in the class because of the handmade craft he had made, he didn’t say anything in opposition.
“Alright, but only this once.”
“Hooray!”
As soon as Ambrose left, Yvonne looked at Seymour and asked, “Sey, what are your plans with Felicia? If you are planning to get a divorce, you should start preparing now.”
Seymour frowned and looked at Yvonne with some irritation. “Mom, who told you that Felicia and I are getting a divorce?
“Tomorrow I will visit Mina. Mom, I just wanted to tell you, Felicia is Mina’s mother, and I will not be getting a divorce from her.”
Felicia enjoyed a few days of brief peace. Her body was recovering well, and for the most part, she didn’t need to worry much about Minerva, as Emma took excellent care of her.
Her mood was generally pleasant, as long as Seymour didn’t send her messages or call.
But the peace didn’t last long. Felicia hesitated as she looked at her father’s face on the video screen of the doorbell.
“Felicia. it’s Dad. You can’t avoid seeing your family forever.”
Her father was one of the few in the family who treated both her and Mabel fairly.
Whenever he traveled, he wouldn’t show favoritism but would bring gifts for both her and Mabel.
This apartment was also a gift he gave her.
So, while Felicia could be indifferent to everyone else, she couldn’t be that way with her father.
Esteban sighed with relief when Felicia finally opened the door. “Felicia, how are you doing with your postpartum recovery? Are the helpers satisfactory? Do you need me to arrange for more servants to assist you?”
Hearing the first concern from her family, Felicia smiled, “No need, Dad. The two maids are great, efficient, and they take good care of Mina.”
“That’s good.” Esteban opened his wallet, took out a bank card, and pushed it towards her. “This is a little gift from your mother and me. Take it. It’s for Mina. I don’t know what to buy, so you can use this money to get whatever she needs.”
Felicia’s eyelashes fluttered slightly. “No, Dad. You can take the card back. I’m not short of money.”
Esteban frowned. “Felicia, your mother and I are your family. You don’t need to be so formal with us.
“You’re our daughter. Just take what we give you.”
“To be precise, I’m your adopted daughter,” Felicia smiled.
There was nothing wrong with what she said.
If she were their biological daughter, the whole family wouldn’t have been absent on the night she gave birth.
“Licia. I don’t like hearing that.”
