Then what is this cooperation?

Seeing the shift in Sophia’s expression, Felicity mistook it for a sign of distress, her smugness growing. “People like us, from high society, only marry within our own ranks. As for you… with nothing but your looks and your slutty tricks to hook men, you’ll always be nothing but their plaything.”
“Miss Roscente is nothing like you–born in the slums and acting like you belong here.”
Sophia only cared about the “cooperation” Felicity mentioned. She narrowed her eyes slightly. “Oh? I’m not good enough, huh? Then what makes the Stewart family think they’re good enough to cooperate with the Roscente family?”
The Stewart family was nothing more than a third–rate family in Virelia, barely worth a glance from the Roscente family.
To the Roscente family, honestly, she, someone from the so–called “slums,” was no different from Felicity, from the Stewart family.
Felicity caught the meaning behind her words immediately.
“Of course, you’re not good enough! A chicken is always a chicken. You think you can transform into a true phoenix after twenty years of pretending? Let me tell you, my real daughter, Chloe, now that’s a true phoenix. With her, we’ll definitely secure our cooperation with the Roscente family.”
“Enough!”
Griffin had had enough of his wife’s blabbering, exposing all their cards. He furrowed his brows in displeasure and interrupted. “Our family’s affairs don’t need to be explained to an outsider.”
His
gaze, cold and indifferent, now looked at Sophia without the warmth or enthusiasm from earlier in the Raffle Hotel.
It was clear that Griffin had made his decision.
They were going to latch onto Xandra, the Roscente girl, and secure their position through her.
Sophia, as a pawn, was no longer dea.

Griffin pushed her hand away, giving her a warning glance.
Felicity fell silent.
Only then did Griffin hand the red bills back to Sophia. “Take it. This should be enough for you to live in your slums for a
while.”
Sophia glanced at the few bills, probably five or six.

She scoffed lightly. “Is the Stewart family really this poor now? A few hundred bucks, and you think it’s enough to show off?”
Felicity’s expression changed instantly, her finely arched eyebrows furrowing. “You’re still not satisfied? A few hundred dollars would be enough to feed you slum rats for a month!”
Typical–greedy and ungrateful, just like a stray dog that bites the hand that feeds it.
The Stewart family had raised her for all these years, and now that she had climbed up a little, she was trying to suppress them?
Now that she has lost her meal ticket, she still wanted to blackmail them?
How laughable.!
She grabbed the bills from Griffin’s hand and tried to shove them into Sophia’s arms. “Take the money and get out of here! This isn’t a place for someone like you! A wild chicken belongs in a chicken coop!”
Felicity’s hand didn’t even touch Sophia.
Sophia had already stepped aside.
The bills fluttered to the ground.
“Sophia!”
Felicity’s face darkened. “Pick up the money!”
Sophia lazily lifted a mocking, yet scornful smile. “What’s the matter? A lady of such high status, watching a few hundred bucks fly away, feeling sorry for it?”
Felicity seemed to have been pierced right at her thoughts, and her face contorted with indignation and rage.
She would never admit it, but the idea of losing a few hundred bucks had truly upset her.
After all, she was a respected lady of the high society. Money to her was no big deal; when she spent, it was always in the thousands.
But when she saw the bills fluttering away in the night wind-
It was impossible for her heart not to follow them with her gaze

But seeing it just fly away like that, that was different.

that small amount of money.
When Felicity saw a passerby actually bend down and pick up the bills, her twisted face grew even more hideous. “Sophia!” she barked, her teeth gritted in anger. “My husband only gave you that money out of pity. And now you refuse it?” Furious, she glared at Sophia’s mocking expression, her hand rising to slap her across the face.
But Sophia’s smile remained unchanged. She watched Felicity’s distorted face and the hand coming toward her with all its force.
With a light breath, a cold glint appeared in Sophia’s eyes.

The smile on her lips deepened with a sarcastic curve, and suddenly, Felicity felt a shiver run down her spine.
Bang!
Her slap just missed its target.
Before Felicity even realized what happened, her outstretched arm was seized with tremendous force.
In the next second, her body slammed violently against the black sedan door, making a loud crashing noise.
