From the far corner of the conference table, a man in a blue suit, his face dark and brooding, slightly raised his eyebrows. A cold, sarcastic smirk curved his lips. “Mr. Roscente really is reckless–just deciding to send someone over without giving us a chance to prepare. Not even the slightest warning” 

Brody hurriedly chimed in, “That’s right! We’ve been doing the interviews just fine, but now Mr. Roscente decides to send someone over, completely disrupting us. Doesn’t that throw our department into chaos!” 

The man’s narrow, sinister eyes darkened even further as he leaned back lazily in his chair, his posture relaxed yet menacing. “Yeah, the interview has already passed the third mark, and the so–called chief examiner hasn’t even shown up… So now, are we all, including the interviewees, supposed to wait for this high–ranking, well–connected examiner!” 

He tilted his head, the sarcastic smile on his lips turning his already delicate, almost feminine features even more errie. 

He stared directly at Kaia. “Director, do you agree with Mr. Roscente’s nonsense” 

“Mr. Roscente has his reasons for making such demands,” Kaja said, not wishing to waste time on them. Standing elegantly, her long, pale fingers rested on the table, her aura ice–cold and commanding. “If you have any objections, you can take them up with Mr. Roscente. After all aren’t you Mr. Roscente’s cousin!” 

Her last words carried an almost imperceptible touch of cold mockery, but it was expertly concealed 

She gave a faint smile, her voice turning utterly cold. “Mr. Roscente said the interview should proceed as planned We don’t need to wait for the chief examiner’s arrival.” 

With that, she turned on her heel, her high heels clicking sharply as she left the meeting room. 

The door shut behind her, and the room fell invo an oppressive silence. 

Cyrus Rascente, leaning against the back of his chair, pressed his tongue forcefully to the roof of his mouth, his long, cold eyes fixed on Kala’s departing figure, growing colder with each passing second. 

Brody, watching Cyrus’s expression, couldn’t help but feel a twinge of anger. He granted his teeth and muttered under his breath, “Mr. Roscente’s Lapdog!” 

Cyrus raised an eyebrow slightly, giving the man a sidelong glance, before suddenly letting out a low chuckle. “you have a problem with that?” The unexpected question threw Brody off–balance, and he didn’t dare say more.
