The guards immediately pulled out their weapons.
Ore Fiends were dangerous!
"Uuuuhh," the Ore Fiend groaned as it looked at them.
"Sir, orders?" one of the guards asked urgently.
The officer looked at the Ore Fiend. "Don’t attack. It doesn’t seem aggressive."
"Yes, sir," the first guard said.
The other three also didn’t move.
This was a strong team that was used to scout the surroundings of Forest Haven Cradle.
The leader was an Early Knight.
The lieutenant was an Initial Fighter, and the other three were Peak Humans.
If necessary, they could also travel to other Cradles with that power, but that would still be a very dangerous journey.
"The merchant said there was someone fitting the description of the suspect in this mine. Do you believe he meant the Ore Fiend?" the lieutenant asked.
When Kyle heard that, his eyes widened.
"I told you!" Theodor shouted in Kyle’s mind.
’Fuck! So, it was that Lornstein guy who told them about me! Guess that’s it for my escort!’ Kyle thought.
"No, I don’t think so," the officer said. "Not many people would confuse an Ore Fiend with a legitimate human."
"I believe the suspect was here. Look at the mine. This was definitely made by a human."
The guards looked around, and sure enough, the tunnel was very straight and uniform.
"Then, where is the suspect? Did he flee?" the lieutenant asked, eyeing the Ore Fiend.
"Isn’t it obvious?" the officer asked with a snort. "He dug up that Ore Fiend and the Ore Fiend killed him."
"But the Ore Fiend isn’t attacking us," the lieutenant said.
"Not yet," the officer answered.
At that moment, the Ore Fiend slowly walked closer, several stones in its hands.
"Fall back! I don’t want to take any chances!" the officer shouted.
The other guards immediately jumped backward, and everyone ran out of the tunnel.
The Ore Fiend didn’t chase them and just watched as they ran away.
Kyle came out of the rubble and looked at the entrance.
’This was close!’ he thought as he cleaned himself of some dust.
"I told you not to talk to the human!" Theodor shouted.
"What was I supposed to do?" Kyle said. "They would’ve found me anyway. It’s not like I could have run away."
"You could have hidden yourself in one of the piles like you did just now!" Theodor shouted.
"And hope that they won’t look through the piles?" Kyle asked. "Seems unlikely."
While Kyle was talking, the Ore Fiend looked at him.
Then, the Ore Fiend approached and offered Kyle three Ether Pebbles.
"Oh, thanks," Kyle said.
But then, the Ore Fiend pulled its arm back and continued looking at Kyle.
"Oh, right!"
Kyle grabbed three Earth Stones and offered them to the Ore Fiend.
Then, the two of them exchanged their ores.
After that, the Ore Fiend returned to the wall.
"Wait a second!" Kyle shouted, stopping the Ore Fiend, who just kept looking at him. fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com
"Here! Try to dig in that direction!" Kyle said, pointing at the end of the tunnel.
The Ore Fiend just kept looking at Kyle.
