Iris was reluctant to be in the same carriage as Lou, because he made her feel uncomfortable, especially because of their last encounter and how demanding he could be.
However, for someone like Iris, it was so hard to refuse him, because he was not aggressive and somewhat nice to her, as he smiled gently, while holding the door for the carriage open, waiting for her to get inside first.
"Don’t tell me that you are afraid to share a carriage with me?" Lou asked Iris when he saw how reluctant she was, while her little maid huffed behind her, disliking him extremely, yet he couldn’t care less about Hanna. "Don’t worry, I will not bite," he said casually, winking at her neck, where the shifters usually marked their mate.
Hanna took a deep breath when she saw that gesture, she wanted to reprimand him, but her position didn’t allow her to do so. If this red cloaked man could roam around the palace so casually, it meant he was someone important and she couldn’t afford to offend someone like him.
Hanna tugged Iris’ sleeve to get her attention. "Miss, let’s take another carriage," she said softly.
"Why?" Lou’s expression was crestfallen when he heard that, he looked hurt, but of course, Iris could see through his pretense. There was mirth in his eyes. "You really don’t want to be in the same carriage as me? I feel so hurt..."
Seeing this situation, Iris felt awry. She didn’t want to be difficult and make a scene here, after all, it was just a few minutes ride together and Hanna would be with her, there was nothing that would happen.
Moreover, she didn’t know for sure why Lou was here and she didn’t want to create more trouble for Cane by offending him, since this merchant seemingly had a close relationship with Princess Osana.
"It’s okay, it’s only a few minutes’ ride." Iris tapped Hanna’s hand that was holding her sleeve, which left her with no choice but to let her missy go.
In an instant, a smile, as sweet as a blooming flower, appeared on Lou’s lips. He was a handsome man, with looks that could rival and defeat average pretty women and was very flamboyant. He was quite the opposite to Cane. He emanated a warm and carefree aura.
"I promise I will behave," Lou said in a teasing tone, but Iris didn’t read that, while Hanna glared at him stealthily.
Lou offered his hand to help Iris to get into the carriage, but she simply climbed inside without his help, which made Hanna feel a little bit better. At the very least, this man couldn’t take advantage of her missy easily.
Meanwhile, seeing how his goodwill was being ignored, Lou shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly and then entered the carriage as well. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
However, when Hanna was about to climb inside, Lou closed the door and grinned at her. "You are a maid, you should take a seat in front with the coachman."
"She will sit with me," Iris retorted, she looked at Lou sternly, but the merchant feigned ignorance.
