Chapter 279: THE POWERFUL MAGIC USER

Being in slavery for a decade and witnessing despairing things around him and enduring all the worse things that one could only imagine made Cane well acquainted with such things.

This was one of the reasons why he was very sensitive to the change of attitude as soon as Will approached him after the second monster attack. He could tell right away something horrendous had happened to him, so could he with Iris.

There was something off with the way she acted around Prince Kellan, which made him second guess his opinion about the Prince, despite his impeccable image in front of the people.

"Don’t do it when you don’t want it, especially when you have an option to choose." This was Cane’s way of saying that he wouldn’t force her to take the role Prince Kellan suggested.

Iris had a choice to refuse, to not get involved and Cane wouldn’t pressure her to do otherwise. Probably, it was to alleviate his own guilt for what he had done to her in the library, giving her as much freedom as he could give to her.

Though it would set back his plan a little bit, in the bigger picture, it wouldn’t have any impact on the whole thing.

"Think about that carefully," Cane said. He caressed her earlobe, which made her squirm as she caught his hand. He knew she was ticklish whenever he touched her there, but he kept doing it anyway.

Iris held his hand and forced it down, pushing it away from her ear.

"I need to do something tonight and I need your help," Cane continued talking, as if nothing had happened.

"What can I help you with?" Iris’ eyes lit up. This was the first time for Cane to really say that he needed her help, thus she was so eager.

"Mother, it is not fair!" Alan was screaming like a child to his mother. He had been in Lady Cyan’s place for hours, but no matter what Lady Cyan told him, he refused to listen. He kept screaming at her that he wanted those people from the Howling Wolf pack to be punished, for whatever reason.

He was so mad that Cane got his hands on the golden stamp. The Alpha could do whatever he wanted now with the stamp in his possession. He could even order him around, the thought of it alone nauseated him. How could his mother be so calm about the whole ordeal?

"Not everything is about you!" Lady Cyan finally snapped. She was usually very rational and calm, but she had reached her limit. Having an idiot son like Alan was a real pain.

She would rather have a great enemy than to have stupid people follow her because those people could be her doom without her realizing it, as they would dig their own graves deeper and drag her down with their stupidity.

"I can’t accept this!" Alan roared.

A harsh slap landed on his face, which made him stumble on his feet and fall on his back, but what followed after that was something that made him widen his eyes in horror.
