The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter novel Chapter 296

Chapter 296: WHAT ARE WE GOING TO PLAY?

Iris was only seven years old at that time, it was the first winter after Hanna became her personal maid. She remembered how Hanna used to bring her hot chocolate to warm her body and she liked it.

During that time, Iris often saw Prince Kellan come visiting their pack house and play with her brother. She would always be jealous because Mason would make sure she watched them having fun from her window.

Therefore, when the Prince noticed her and started playing with her, she was very happy. She waited for his visits and was no longer jealous of Mason, because after Prince Kellan finished playing with him, he would always come to her bedroom.

"What will we play today?" Iris stared at him expectantly. She wished her brother would be as nice as him, since Mason was so mean to her and always made her cry. frёewebnoѵēl.com

"I have a new game," Kellan said, he enunciated his words slowly, because sometimes Iris would misread it. "But, this game is a secret, can you keep it a secret?"

"Yes," Iris said eagerly, she was so giddy to have a secret of her own.

"You can’t tell Hanna either."

"Why?"

"Because this is a secret."

"Okay." Little Iris didn’t want to upset the Prince, because he was the only one who wanted to play with her besides Hanna, thus she nodded her head eagerly. She wanted to please him, so he would like her more. "What will we play?"

Iris watched Kellan’s lips move, but she couldn’t read what he was saying.

"I can’t read it, can you slow down a bit, please..." Iris furrowed her brows, even after the Prince said it slowly, she couldn’t capture the words he said. "What did you say..."

And when Iris stared at Kellan’s lips closely, those lips drew into a beautiful smile and everything went black. Iris was startled because she didn’t like dark places, yet when she opened her eyes, she found herself inside a bright room and her body was so warm.

She rubbed her eyes groggily, as she felt someone was so close to her and she realized she was actually sitting in someone’s lap. When she lifted her head, the first thing she noticed was Cane staring at her. He had a towel in his left hand, while his right arm secured her in position, so she wouldn’t fall when she was sleeping.

"Awake?" Cane asked, he wiped her sweat and put down the towel to reach a glass on the table next to the bed. "Come, drink this."

Sluggishly, Iris drank it, but she immediately pushed it away because the taste was so bitter. "What is that?"

"Medicine."

Iris frowned, but then she remembered what happened. She then looked at her arms and her palms, but there were no scratches on her skin.

"The healer stopped the bleeding on your arms and palms, but she couldn’t do anything about your allergy," Cane explained shortly. "Hanna had gone to great lengths to find the ingredients for this medicine. You have to finish it."

"That’s bitter," Iris said sullenly. She frowned at the sight of that black liquid.
